Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

As part of the Black Tag Sale Carphone warehouse have 60 euro off the Huawei P8 Lite for people transferring to Vodafone.

    https://www.carphonewarehouse.ie/black-tag-prepay-savings

The link online seems faulty but I was able to buy instore.
You might have to buy a 10 euro Vodafone top up too ,I didnt though.

Vodafone have it for 109.99 ,40 euro off
    http://shop.vodafone.ie/shop/phones/huawei-p8-lite-2017-pay-as-you-go-black

90 euro for a phone of this quality is a steal .
Just wondering if the phone is network locked to Vodafone and does it have bloatware installed?

Still seems to be 129.99? It appears Huawei are announcing new models next month so current ones knocked down.

I had to buy instore to get it for 89.99 ,its incorrectly displaying the price as 129.99 online.

I just ported over a spare Tesco Mobile sim I had .
If you can get a free sim from a providor ,just use that to port.

I have this phone and paid 160 for it only 3 months ago (and at the time even that was a major deal as it was ~200 in most places).

It's a decent phone with good specs, though it's not the quickest even with 3GB of RAM. The other main drawback is only 16GB of storage, and Huawei have disabled the option to merge internal and SD so you can easily run out of space for installing apps. However for €90 it's definitely a bargain compared to other phones in that price range.

Anyone actually manage to get the Huawei phone for 89 e today.

I called to carphonewarehouse and the said that there was a problem with ports and their system since last Friday, so I couldn't get it today.

Bought this phone for 149 on Eir and can't fault it. Great screen, very nippy and top battery life.
I've been using it intensively over the last few weeks and have yet to have to charge it during the day. Highly recommended!!

    Would like to keep number.
Use any old sim lying around?(not sure what number is on it mind you)

Would like to unlock phone and use current sim in phone.
    Is it doable?

    https://www.dc-unlocker.com/huawei-id-unlock

    "Unlocking, please wait ...

    Phone successfully unlocked !

    Credits left : 0

Please unplug and restart phone !"

wont know until i get new nano sim in post but looks promising!

one caveat to this is that when the program found the phone it didnt say that it was locked.(no sim in phone)

    dont think so
i purchased in store to get the best price i could , 99€ ain't bad.

Is it not the case, that most,if not all new phones are unlocked until the first sim card is inserted, and then the phone is locked to that network?

Does the P8 lite have vodafone apps pre-installed (bloatware)???

Where can I get a free SIM to port to Vodafone?

Nevermind, think carphone Warehouse is closed already and deal is over.

How did it work out . Is it network locked

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 562 ✭✭✭jwcurtin

Didn't test if it was network locked. Just went for the unlock via DC Unlocker.
Phone definitely unlocked, confirmed by T-Mobile US SIM Card. Hassle free for €4!

Great little phone, a shame to see it won't re-emerge until the 25th!

Its still available at Vodafone for 109.99 ,no top up required .
Its still a bargain at that price.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,854 ✭✭✭✭Beechwoodspark

So Is it available in carphone warehouse at that price still or just in Vodafone stores?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,195 ✭✭✭padyjoe

It's a switch and save 40 quid on Vodafone website, phone itself €149.99, so it can be had for 109.99 after porting your simcard.

So does anyone know a physical shop I can walk into to get a free SIM and then switch to Vodafone? I know some can be ordered online.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,195 ✭✭✭padyjoe

Just a guess: Eir? All the other charge either a fiver or a month top up in advance. (I did a quick search online, their website lets you order it for free. Could be different in the shop though.)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,907 ✭✭✭kala85

in an eir store, you can get a sim card as long as you buy 5e eir credit.

Does anyone know if there are any offers on the ports with vodafone or any other network for the samsung j5 2017
