I failed by 5 marks, it was the SJT that let me down. Hopefully the next campaign isn't too far away.

That pass mark is crazy high! So little room for error. Congrats to those who passed and all the best for those who didn't.

Really sorry to hear banter, keep at it. You've been very insightful to these boards and sure we may have had our disagreements but you've shown the makings of a great cop already on these boards and will make be at GV one day. All the best.

I’ve a friend who scored lower than me, on the pass mark, with a surname starting with W. I scored higher and he got his before. It’s a totally random order. Maybe based on the candidate number?

  • Registered Users Posts: 464 ✭✭shanevendrell

Has anyone received a pass since the fails started going out? Have a few mates still waiting.

Absolutely gutting. Head up and there is always next time.

Failed as well by 3 marks- did absolutely no preparation so that's a lesson learned but shouldn't be too long before next recruitment with the next few years seeing many officers eligible for retirement and so on.

  • Registered Users Posts: 111 ✭✭Anotherhopeful

Failed by 1 mark good luck to everyone else going through it!!!

Hey everyone, only awake from nights and got email. Got a Pass. 4 of my friends who never join boards have all failed by 1 or 2 points.
Pass mark this year was very high. But that just shows everyone did well so they had to raise it to drop numbers so don't take it in a bad way if this year wasn't your time. This is my third attempt at joining.

One of my friends just told me he failed by 1 mark and his mum passed by 1 mark. He said he didn't even know his mum had applied. Talk about operational security Hahaha.

Someone I know failed by a mark also, I alsmost feel bad passing and all these people failing by a mark

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 236 ✭✭sparkylarky

There must have been alot of people applied if they had such a high pass mark?

Had to have been, 34 was very high

I reckon the IST itself failed to cull the herd as much as they liked, the old IST had much much lower pass marks. So the only way to do was to pick the maximum manageable pool of candidates and go with it, if that makes sense?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 236 ✭✭sparkylarky

Yea there wasnt much room to manoeuvre

Ive probley asked this before but how many do they take through to the AC?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,620 ✭✭✭Banterbus28

I think they must have a costings formula, they must present say 3 possible pass marks to the PSNI and how much each would cost and how long.

Option one being the biggest and then getting gradually smaller.

I think during 1509 it was around the 2000 mark. Banterbus correct if I'm wrong?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,620 ✭✭✭Banterbus28

I think it was about 2000-2500 aye.

2000 isnt much taken out of 7/8k that might have appied, There must have been alot of people got fails! I know I just scraped by!

  • Registered Users Posts: 277 ✭✭KN1231999

    Banterbus did you pass yourself?

    Nope.

But unlike some other people I am fortunate to be in a good job so that softens the blow a bit

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 771 ✭✭✭NiK9

Would everyone be willing to post their rough AC timeframe. Just to give us all a rough idea of how long the A.C. is running (since PSNI were due to receive merit list from delloite end of march).

    Mine is early/mid Feb

I just noticed the email we received today says that they aim to communicate the result of AC to us by May 4th. That’s a loooooooong wait!

Yea seems to have been put back the same length of time as the IST and results. Just think that it is more time to prepare for the fitness.
I doubt any successful candidates will be starting training until after the summer due to the further stages and also the July training break.

I have a long wait until my AC, so I presume it's being run over the next couple of months

I’m the opposite I don’t have a long wait so not long to prepare.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 160 ✭✭Tom_90

Also early mid Feb, to those who didn’t pass, don’t let it get you down. This was my 3rd attempt at the IST. Stick at it!

  • Registered Users Posts: 8 LuLu33

Is the assessment centre date random or is it based on your score of IST?

I'd rather have mine sooner rather than later, with the amount of time I have i think I'll begin to over think about it.

Not too sure I'm aware in previous campaigns that it apparently went in order of when you completed your IST.

High score and AC very soon but also near the start of the alphabet so not sure if thats any indication
