Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back a page or two to re-sync the thread and this will then show latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Turn the heating on to make the difficult dry air effect like most of you have said. . .

Run into the kitchen crawl under the table, sprint upstairs, balance over some type of beam, climb on top of the wardrobes, jump down, round round missus shoes, drag the washing basket back and forth, sprint downstairs. Repeat 2 more times.

    Hahahahaha

Cracker! And not too far from the real thing lol.

SMT results anyone? I was kinda expecting them by the end of this week.

Says on JoinPSNI that you will only receive results if they are positive. I.e. no news is good news

I've managed to pass all phases including vetting it seems.
I think HIIT type training, be it circuits or crossfit is probably the best for the PCA.
I've no idea about the actual physical program at GV though ? If anyone who is currently serving could advise that would be great.

Quite honestly I'm not the world's greatest runner. More of a barbell kinda person.

Were you at the PCA last Wed? When did you hear about your vetting?

Are they pretty accommodating at rescheduling pca/medical? Got a feeling getting time off again will be difficult for me.

Not swing it as special leave?

Could try it. Although August will be a battle to get off in my division.

Hoping they fall on rest days though!

I had my PCA a few weeks ago now. I heard ago about vetting today if that helps (it's an email confirmation as with all other things during this campaign) :)

Hi there, I’d my PCA last week (2/5/18) and no word as yet on vetting, been checking my credit report an emails daily and eagerly awaiting news. But as has been said here, no news is good news. I did ring to enquiry only to receive an email telling me they could could confirm my vetting was pending so not much help.

At PCA I was in the first group taken out to their cars so may have met you

Does anyone know what type of self defence/martial art is taught during training?
Just wondered as there are so many people training in martial arts these days...how does the Police one compare to them?

No martial arts. If you have any martial arts experience leave it at the door. You are taught PSP (personal safety programme) which are all Home Office approved blocks, strikes and takedowns.

Are you still free to compete in MMA whilst in training/ serving officer?

Not sure about MMA but o uses to play in a PSNI sports team and the peelers in the team occasionally gor duty credits for playing a match i.e. they got paid for it.

    Hello I am the newbie...

I have been following this thread for quite a while but have a few questions for those who have done the PCA.

I am in the 50-55 bracket so still have a good while to wait no doubt.

For those who have done the PCA can you recommend what training to do to prepare?

    Thanks :)

    HIIT, vartlek, occasionally long run.

Practice doing exercised as shown at the PCA stations (kettle bells, body drag, balancr beam and wall) after a sustained sprint to get your body used to doing those thimgs whilst breathing out your backside. I.e. condition yourself to not be as shocked by the dryness of the hall

Press ups, sit ups, pull ups should be enough for strength.

Of you want join a gym but make sire you get your money's worth

I think it's going to be a while before PSNI finish the FOI that were submitted. Just noticed they answered one on Fri that was first submitted early Feb. So 3 months to answer.
My first FOI wasn't submitted until end of march and the most recent was submitted when the AC results were sent out. So could be July/Aug before we know how many people are in each percentage group.

I think I know the answer but I’m assuming you can’t take any holidays while in GV.
    Thanks.
