Hi ...... how long after medical do you get results??

The first batch of folk doing medicals found out they passed the same day. Now though it seems to be a day or two after.

Substance misuse is carried out the same day as medical but takes about 3 weeks for that result.

If there are any boardies or lurkers in the 200-250 range who have cleared vetting, or hear in the coming weeks would they mind shouting up so we know how far down they are. Cheers

Question for you all. Are there many of you currently still living with parents? Me and the partner are currently in savings mode for a place of our own and aim to be out and in somewhere by the end (or as close as possible) of Garnerville. Obviously that’s dependant on my call coming but I’m hopeful.

Anyway, I’ll likely still be at home during Garnerville that being the case. Anyone else in this position? I know there’s a lot of you who are a bit older than myself who already on the property ladder already but there’s bound to be a fair few of you who aren’t.

I would say don't get tied down to a mortgage until you know your district.

My mate bought whilst in GV for the same reason.

Remember renting is usually a 6-12 month contract. Mortgage is 25 plus years.

No totally get that Banter. That’s why we’re waiting til I’m in and all and would know district by then. My question was more a case of has anyone done the same? My only worry would be putting unnecessary pressure on my parents with me checking the car and that sort of stuff

    Parents are gonna worry regardless.

I have been told that if and when I get in a text will be sent when I get to station and when I get home. Otherwise mother will be not happy lol. I moved out 2 years ago ffs.

I suspect this is our usual troll, he talked about being from Skerries on the firearms forum before.

In any case, can't bring a firearm across the border unless there is a license for both sides of the border.

As to vetting, I am a little north of 200 and
    have heard nothing.

Can't choose- seems you can put forward preferences but they can be ignored.

Specialist roles come 2+ years down the line. Wikipedia probably has a breakdown of departments.

Join psni has a section on all the specialist roles such as TSG, cyber crime and dog handlers.

I'll be living in GV as I'll be coming back across the water and technically homeless. Anyone joining me?? Bags top bunk. I like Netflix, ironing and boot bulling in the evenings. I don't snore honest.

Ah so it really is a shared room. Boke lol. I live well over the 35 mile limit so I’ll be staying too if I get to garnerville. Not looking forward to sharing like I’m back at uni but I’ll suck it up :) But anyway you sound like you’ll be a good room mate lol, did you watch the staircase on Netflix? good show :)

Anyone know if you are within the 35 mile limit if you can apply to stay there even for the first few weeks? Feel like it would help with finding my feet etc and getting settled into the routine. (Fingers crossed I make it obviously)

As far as I’m aware you used to be able to stay for the first month or something but now it’s only if you live over 35 miles away.

I stayed at Tulliallan during the full training there and it was great craic with the other recruits :) there was a bar within the college too. Anyone know if GV has one lol?

The staircase is next on the Netflix list. Currently watching the Unabomber series.
