Can I ask all of a question? Is it just me or would any of you prefer the grave yard shifts while on the job ( or any job) I've always been a night person and always preferred it over day time working
Personally I'd be the opposite, don't get me wrong I like to stay up late when I'm off but night shifts take their toll on you and I'm sure it's even worse at 4am being shouted at by a drunk when in reality you'd prefer your bed but i guess it's part of the fun on the job.

Personally I can't wait to get of majority nights. With my current job 90% of my work is at nights. I'm a morning person (yes im a weirdo lol) working nights is great because you can do normal day to day things and then work at night. But the lack of sleep soon catches up with you.
My normal work pattern is usually 60hours followed by 3 days off. But the first day off I'm always wrecked, sleeping to lunctime and then shattered rest off the day so have an early night but then usually wake up around 4am because of my body clock.
My body is used to working nights but I hate it lol.

I like nights in the job especially if it is mid week. Can get some paperwork tidied up or be a little more proactive out and about if you want. Also there are no bosses hanging around lol

Worst thing is when a job comes in 15 mins before the earlyshift arrive.

I feel the same way, I feel like I would be so much more productive at night

Has anyone got any vetting forums since Wednesday? Maybe their sending them out in batches

  • Registered Users Posts: 464 ✭✭shanevendrell

Maybe they're sending them out in order of AC date. Has anyone with an AC date months away received theirs yet?

I’ve done my A/C and haven’t got mine and I know another who got theirs but A/C isn’t for another month. Alphabetic order maybe. Who would know with them.

My AC is soon and I haven't received mine either so I'm inclined to agree with you there. The AC is managed by Deloitte whereas vetting, as we know is a stage managed by the PSNI. I dont think it should worry anyone that they seem a bit out of kilter.

If I recall correctly in previous campaigns you had to provide a passport photo. I dont recall being asked for one this time, panicking now because the paperwork is away.

No there was no mention of photos to be sent. Just photos of any tattoos.

    I can relax again.

They will come eventually. I was at a training course for the a.c. today and out of thirty of us only a couple had received vetting forms. They could be coming out in order of UID as I have a very low UID number. I wouldnt have mine already if it was Alphabetical order.

I believe I was at the same training course (in a holy location) and I feel that it was going by the same however I feel dates for the IST are going by peoples scores? Just what I thought from talking to others.

Who knows how they are posted. I have a very low two digit UID number and not received mine yet.

I think I could’ve possibly did the same training course a few weeks ago.

Just curious, anyone have any idea of roles they'd like to potentially specialise into down the line if they got into the PSNI? For me TSG or the ARU seems like an interesting and challenging job.

Main goal is HMSU and then after some years move to dogs and work that until retirement.

Dogs, dogs, dogs. I'm all about the dogs.

    But before that TSG

TSG definitely, if I had a choice. Or ARU would be good too, but TSG is where my passion lies

Yea as far as I'm awake it's changed to a 3 tier system now. Where you can apply directly to HMSU rather than having to work each role first but you have to pass ARV then SOBSU then do HMSU training.
Think it's like 12 weeks ARV followed by 5 weeks SOBSU then a final 12 weeks for HMSU. But knowing youre the best of the best would be worth all the beastings.
