Apart from TSG, Dogs and ARU. What other specialist roles is there. I liked the work of the Collision Investigation Unit in the TV show Crash. That would be something I would like to do, though I assume that would be a role approached through traffic branch (if it still exists)

I'd be interested in child protection as well but not sure if i could mentally cope with the horror

I don’t think I could cope with that. I become a dribbling wreck if I watch anything about babies and animals being sick or dying. (Which is why I wouldn’t go to dogs either, I wouldnt send them in lol)

It seems like everyone and their granny is doing it on facebook live to be fair these days.

Those guys are dicks and just looking for validation for tgeir vigilantism. Most of the "evidence" they gather is inadmissable because they are entrapping the paedos by initiating contact, instead of passing it over to the police they are opening themselves up as well.

Just sad people with too mich time on their hands and giving sick people a strong defence in the process

I think if I was ever lucky enough to get into the police, I would want to be a detective. Proper investigative work. Stimulating, challenging and hopefully making a difference in someone's life for the better. I just think that having something to show for your work (vs attending countless domestics, shoplifting incidents etc in response) would be so much more rewarding.

I also love watching Bosch on Amazon Prime lol. The competition for those roles might be high but then so is my tenacity.

Nothing wrong with ambition, good few of young Sergeants, Inspectors, Chief Inspectors and Superintendants knocking about

If anyone hasn't had a chance to watch Bosch I really recommend it. It plays out like a long, drawn-out novel centred around an imperfect hero. It really reminded me of DC Jonty Brown's 'into the dark' book about his time in CID.

Left a question in the vetting thread if any of you can offer some advice, thanks

Are there any rules in place to say applicants must have lived within the UK for the major part of the last 5 years, or something like that?

Anyone any idea what I put in the vetting section about my father. He left when my mum was pregnant so I’ve never met him.

State that, absent father, ring 101 and ask recruitment if you need help

Should be a box you can tick and explain why you don't know his details and you can just put in that very reason I'm pretty sure

The vetting forms are a lot lot bigger than the 1509 campaign, does anyone know if you just email Deloitte that you wish to withdraw from the 1710 campaign?

Hey... quick vetting question? Is the unique I’d or identifier for Facebook just your name?

Your unique id is the url to take you directly to Facebook. I don't have it anymore but I know mine used to be my first name.surname.5
Best way to do it is go to Google and use one of the facebook id search engine to get the exact I'd. Or you can just go onto your Facebook on a browser and copy the url.
