AC question (without giving too much away): as we are supposed to be acting as PC's on the day are there any policies and procedures on policing available to the public to study? I get the core policing competencies have to be prominent throughout the role play but I'm just interested to see if there are any materials that can help us along.
For example, I work in a customer facing role at the moment. As a senior member of my team, I'm called on when a difficult customer needs to be addressed. For the last while I've made it a point to try and have as many of these types of interactions as I can (not to "sort this guy/ girl out") but to try and resolve the situation as best I can to make sure I deliver on service. I know in the back of my mind the policies and procedures of the environment I work in, and I am confident in what I can or cannot do for a customer within my remit. I don't want to walk into the role play and not understand what I can or cannot do for the actor. Are we expected to know policing policy?

With your previous clearance you should be sitting ready to go in no time.

Hi Guys, long time lurker. Only did the AC quite recently and while I don't think I did exceptionally well I think I did well enough to pass it. Nothing in particular I look back at and think "Jesus why didn't I?". Felt I managed my time pretty well and therefore didn't feel as much under pressure as I have been reading others have.

It helps that I'm a fairly fast typer and so was able to fly through the report writing exercise. From reading through here I think I was one of the few to finish it.

As I said, I don't think I did exceptionally well and will probably be waiting until May for an answer but I'm hoping beyond hope that I get the early notice to move to the next stage. So I'm just curious for those of you who got the early notice what was the timeframe between doing the AC and getting the email? Also have you submitted your vetting forms? I'm from the ROI and so I think mine got sent out earlier than most in anticipation. I've been doing a lot of travelling and living abroad in the past 10 years and so trying to fill out those forms was in some ways more stressful than the AC

Hopefully. Only thing that's changed in my life since my last vetting is getting married, and my dad moving house lol. So don't see a problem with it.

Hey guys haven't posted on the board since the start of the campaign but have been lurking around. Completed my AC not that long ago and I was wondering is it bad if I complete the role plays early? I felt I dealt with the situations effectively and demonstrated the core competencies but I've seen people run out of time during the role plays, however I had around 1-2 minutes left on mine when I was wrapping up, should I be concerned?

Depends if you ticked all the assessor's boxes or not.

You wont know until results day i wouldnt be worrying.

Unless you get Musgrave, Ards and North Down, Lisburn or North Coast. They do foot patrols to deter anti social behaviour and for Musgrave they do city beat lol. Other districts may do foot pateols but unfortunately depends on the assessed threat level
Every station has the potential to conduct beat patrols. The ones you see around Belfast City Centre are generally neighbourhood officers, however the City Centre is also Lisburn Road's patch.

    Are LPTs/NPTs deployed from Musgrave?
Musgrave doesnt have its own LPT, only neighbourhood (and other specialist units).

Not at all. People deal with stressors differently. Some people cram up and run out of time, some people keep cool and plough on. So long as you feel you covered everything you set out to do then you should be good.

Hi guys, did my AC yesterday, hope it went alright. For those who have done it and got results already, how long approx did you wait before results were sent out? Thanks!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 289 ✭✭Slo85

Is there anyone from the 1509 campaign who was successful at the assessment centre who then failed at PCA or the medical?

  • Registered Users Posts: 277 ✭✭KN1231999

the wait is killing me now, just want put out of my misery lol

Quick question for some of you who might know, if you pass your original IST but fail it at the AC by say a small margin, do you still pass or is it pass or fail in both instances? Do they give you the benefit of the doubt that you maybe had an off day at the AC?

I had mine yesterday too, where you in the morning session?

They are looking to see of your IST tremd matches your AC IST re sit trend.

If not you have to take an invigilated test. Dont think there is a "fail" at AC IST
