I know the 175 will be added to the account as a  credit.

If my first bill is €176, will the €175 be applied, and only €1 be due?

Or, will it be split over 12/24 months?

And, I cannot find the details online, of how long the contract is, 12 or 24 months?

Dual Value Saver (Direct Debit & Online Billing)

    Thanks

    Hi The Caveman,

Many thanks for your interest in Electric Ireland.

The switching bonus credit is paid into the customer's account at the start as a lump sum, so the first scenario you describe is what applies.

The contract is for availing of the switching bonus, and this is 12 months in duration, starting from the customer's switching date.

There is no contract for the bill savings, which are 8.5% off electricity units and gas units each, per bill. These remain on the customer's account after the 12-month contract ends. These savings do not expire.

If you have any other questions, please let us know.

    Best regards,
    Una

    Hi Thegalwayman,

    Thanks for your message.

Customers who switch to Electric Ireland receive a switching bonus of €175, which is applied to their account for use against their first bill. This continues to be applied to their bills until the bonus has been used in total. This is not a cashback bonus.

As such, should a customer leave Electric Ireland within the 12 month contract period, they are subject to a €50 exit fee, per fuel.

We hope this helps. Should you have any other questions, please let us know.

    Thanks,
    Brige
