Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Picked mine up today and Argos even gave me a €10 voucher so net €509 - Great deal. Thanks to the OP

P.S Heard an Argos guy say he thought the price could be put back up higher tomorrow.

How easy is it to flip between Saorview and Freesat on these LGs?

So iv connected to satellite this evening. Seems to be very annoying to switch from antenna to satellite. Have to go through the main menu. Unless I'm doing something wrong.

Also is the freesat epg supposed to be on this tv? I tuned the satellite but channels are just all over the place

Why is it that the Tele is in the clonmel Argos for 768 but online is out of stock at 519 same Tele!

  • Registered Users Posts: 759 ✭✭✭fmul9798

Maybe they didn't adjust it on the actual shelf, but I think it would scan at lower price?

Can anyone confirm if the freesat epg should be available on this? Iv updated software but still no joy

Do I need to choose uk as my setup country or something?

  • Registered Users Posts: 759 ✭✭✭fmul9798

I remember way back when I had a freesat box,I had to set the location to UK along with a postal code so that freesat populated the correct channel variants for that UK postcode. If this set is actually freesat,
    Maybe that is the problem?

If you enter a northern Ireland postcode you won't receive ITV 1 HD.

Thanks I'll try a London postcode maybe. When I scanned for saorview channels also they were laid out in perfect order without needing to modify anything, hopefully this will still be the case when I switch to UK

Some stock in Longford, but seem to be reserved like hot cakes. Went from 5 available to 2 while I was trying to reserve.

*Edit: Longford out now, Tullamore has 1 left

    Freesat automatically
arranges the channels into different categories, news movies, entertainment etc..

What the thoughts on the TV from those that have it?

50hz and edge lit made me pass but was in 2 minds, alot of the techie stuff is bull in reality and if set up right theirs little difference.

Just wondering could someone who has the TV confirm the size of the box as I may need to borrow a car with a bigger boot than mine when collecting.

Got this off the LG website: Size W/ Carton, With Stand 1360 x 835 x 152

Just measured it and in inches it's 53x33x6

The box is huge, you need to put the back seats down. Haven't noticed any issues with 50 hz but the edge lit does seem to result in some banding with light highlights on dark backgrounds. Blacks aren't as good as if like but it's not an oled. Very happy with it for the price, 4k Netflix looks pretty good

How do the Saorview channels look on it?
    Does it upscale the picture?

So freesat epg is on it just need to set up the tv as uk. Saorview channels are then a bit disorganised but that's easier to sort than all the freesat channels

My code for the ILAC has been returned to me. It's valid until the 7th. First to PM gets it. I'll be up for approx a half an hour. If I don't have a PM by then I'll give it to the first PM I have overnight/in the morning.

Update: So I've got freesat sorted properly now. Saorview is tuned in but I need to sort out the order. Comes up as Freeview Play in the guide but I can live with that.

In terms of switching between Saorview and Freesat I've found an easier way than I first though.

    Sequence is the following:

List Button -> Then need to change the filter from Antenna to Satellite or viceversa - Still not the most seamless experience but better than I initially thought

Can anyone who has this set comment on the black levels? A lot of reviews for the LG 670 series suggest the local dimming/edge lit combo produces noticeable light bands in dark scenes and I was wondering if the 651 has it too.

I never understand why Argos don't allow people to pay online, it would eliminate people reserving products for the sake of it and then not following through with a purchase.
