Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Dogged performance so far by Panama but Belgium also showing why this golden generation of theirs is going to waste.

Watching Belgium , I just cant see why they play 3 CB against weak opposition , You only need 2 , there balance look all off,
Surely a defensive midfield would be better dropping between two centre half's to pick up the ball as he'd be better on the ball ,

They play three at the back because they have a wealth of centre backs but no left backs. The only decent left back they have, Jordan Lukaku, was left out of the final squad. Vertonghen could probably fill in there but Martínez is too committed to change the system.

Croatia sending up their striker after he refused to come on at the weekend - how odd (refusing to come on, not sending him home). Massive hissy fit cause he didn't start? Or not brought on earlier?

Why would you be bringing in Firminho and leaving Dougls Costa on the bench? Surely it should be the other way around.

    Different context entirely.

You might well go for a tougher, more athletic midfield against Germany, but they weren't playing Germany, and their issue wasn't a porous midfield but one with little capacity to support and provide a platform for attack.

Brazil picked the team yesterday they intended to play in the whole tournament bar maybe the 3rd game. Switching players and saying do what you do former Real or Man City won't change much. Think people are over estimating how creative Fernandinho is at City by giving the ball to Silva or De Bruyne. It's those type of players Brazil miss as Coutinho does his best stuff in the final third not the middle

    Me personally?

Because I think Firminho would have more of an impact.

The presence of so many spurs players in the squad has helped to downgrade expectations.... :D

Ah go on England, I hope they give it a good shot in this tournament ....

That's a bizarre Inggerland lineup, where's the midfield, Tunisia will have more possession of the ball at least.

Is it any wonder that England get slagged when they do this?

It's a pi$s take! In fact they are taking the pi$s out of themselves and general past media!
If they take their chances very seriously people moan yet if they play humble and take the pi $$ people moan!

It's cringeworthy "comedy" but just a light hearted skit!

Erra the English are humble right now, but you know Linekar and co are waiting for any opportunity to crack out the "we can win it". 3-0 win here might be it.

Keeper should never had been playing on, shoulder injury needs to be assessed properly for a keeper, not going to be able to move his arm properly at all
