Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

For me, Group H sums up everything great about the World Cup and soccer in general. Four countries from the four corners of the Earth with totally different historical experiences, ethnic mixes, economic power etc., and you couldn't call which two of them will go through...

As predictable as the day is long. Watch now as they (the media, not necessarily fans) go into overdrive about how "we're gonna win it, we are unstoppable!!" almost immediately, and have a complete meltdown when they get knocked out in the second round or quarter finals.

As good as England are looking Sterling isn't working. Time to give Rashford the spot over him or at least the chance against Belgium.

    Maybe even Vardy.

Sterling is so far ahead of Rashford in terms of ability that you need to let it gel and make it work.

Not in an England shirt he isn't. For City he's great but he just isn't working in this set up. It will cost England mark my words.

He is hardly "so far ahead " of him. They both bring different dynamics to their team and for this English team Rashford would be my preference to be honest.

Wtf is the keeper at punching that?

RTE has the scoreboard as 1-0 to Japan not Senegal just my tv or is anyone else's the same.

Edit: Corrected now 1-0 to Senegal

What will happen if England and Belgium Draw? Who tops the group? They both have identical goals score and against

The one with less cards or its a coin toss after that I think.

England are currently top due to the "fair play table" so I assume whoever has the less cards/fouls

Cheers I was thinking coin toss myself but couldn’t for the life of me figure out why England where on top.. was thinking it should have been in alphabetical order

He is miles ahead of him in terms of ability. Like chalk and cheese.

Same posibility in Group B if Spain and Portugal both draw or win by the same margin

And yet Rashford has more goals for England in half the games played and most of those as a sub I believe. The system doesn't suit Sterling, against a better side you can't afford to watch him miss chance after chance. It will cost them.

With 48 teams at the 2026 World Cup, it's going to be full of rubbish teams like Panama.

So we should just let good teams in it, is that your point

Isn't that England's problem always, focusing on the individual rather than what's best for the team.

Liked Southgate's attitude. He didn't particularly like the performance, specially the start and the goal conceded at the end. The bits in the middle were okay though!

That's as bad a miss as you're likely to see at this World Cup. Completely fresh air from less than 6 yards out.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,179 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

Unlucky there Japan, off the crossbar. Really should be in front

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,179 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

Japan have paid the price for their misses. Senegal 2-1 up.

2-2. Senegal made a bit of a mess at the back.

Poor defending. From the superman keeper to the player standing on the back post instead of getting out and marking the free man.

Shocking from the Keeper. What was he thinking?

Has to be BS. No manager could stand by and let the players pick the team and hope to ever have any authority again either in his current role or any future one. He'd have to either walk away or be sacked.

Indeed he did. Amazing that people still don't get what's going on with this scenario and the amount of trouble that he has caused.

I wonder if there is a chance that he may not start. We've already heard of that he was getting isolated from team events (didn't attend the team BBQ) and Sampaoli making those comments the other day would not have went down well.

Saying that, Messi is just picking his mates. He's probably still popular with the guys who are playing.

We could even see a farcical situation where Messi is on the bench and Sampaoli subs him on after 1 minute :pac:

I hate that teams don't were their normal jersey.

Stadium full of yellow jerseys and Colombia are wearing blue when there is absolutely no need. Really annoys me as it's a ploy to sell jerseys.

It's Fifa regulations rather than a marketing ploy.

If one team is wearing a light colour the other has to wear dark IIRC

I'm being very lazy now, but does anyone know off the top of their head what the permutations are for whoever finishes 1st or 2nd between England and Belgium please?
