Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Just saw the goal. Would it have been saved with no man on the post, contrary to the advice of all pundits?
No. Pickford wouldn't have got to it. A taller player on the post would have got it over the bar. And what was Trippier holding onto the post for?

Won’t be seeing Hendo taking one again anytime soon. Bottler.

Not sure Dier actually struck that properly. Doesn't matter anyway

    Pathetic weak hand from Ospina.

Strange that Vardy wasn’t one of the 5

Did everyone forget that he needs 4 touches of the ball before doing anything with it. ;)

Why is he a bottler, he stepped up when others wouldn't.

He hadn't the balls for it id say.

    Exactly, where was Vardy?

Henderson had a good game tonight, seeing Dier play shows how much he brings to the team

Worrying the way they sat back, but that's a massive win psychologically !

    Ugh. Ruining the tournament.

"England are contenders again". Ah lads.

Croatia struggled much more against a much worse side.

There's nobody outstanding in their side of the draw.

They're probably around second or third favourites given who everyone else has to get past.

Henderson was certainly in top 2 or 3 of England’s best players. Did the job he’s in there to do very well.

I don't get the impression Vardy hasn't the balls for a penalty. And he is an excellent PK taker. Very odd

Nice for Pickford to have that moment after the silly abuse he received after the Belgium game.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,935 ✭✭✭AdpRo

Vardy was very slow running over to celebrate, i reckon he was injured.

We won't go much further; it's a limited side. But let us enjoy tonight. England shootout wins are like decent summers; bloody rare.

There's agendas at play here so you might not get full agreement there!!

I think he's done well. Plus criticising him for missing a pen is silly.

That was an absolutely dire game for the neutral.
I'm annoyed that I stuck it out but wanted to see if England had any ideas other than rely on set pieces. Sadly not tonight, but maybe the next one.

Pickford talking himself up there :pac:

    Small man syndrome?

    So are Sweden

I think England would be better suited to playing a team that will attack them

Saturday is going to be a slog but nothing to fear from Sweden

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,860 ✭✭✭DeanAustin

Balls of steel from Dier to be fair. He was terrible against Belgium and was awful when he came on tonight. Was certain he’d miss it. Great penalty.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,053 ✭✭✭Ohmeha

England did deserve it over the 120 despite not being impressive happy for them

They are limited like the other teams in their half of the draw, England have nothing to fear from now on could make them dangerous

You’ll almost certainly make the final.

I hope they do but that’s a massive assumption. Sweden are decent and Croatia are a better side than England.

Really hope they do it. Had them pegged for the last 16 or quarters at best but they can beat Sweden.

Raging, really thought Colombia would win it once Henderson missed his penalty. In fairness to England they deserved their win and Colombia were dreadful in normal time, some great penalties from England and amazing save from Pickford. It is probably the least unlikeable team England have had in my lifetime but I still would be sickened to see them win it, I fancy them to get to the final now though!

We may well be facing France or Brazil in the semi final (if we get there). That sort of performance again would not be good enough against either of them.
