Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Nah. Really overrated team, and there is a single player in their team I think is likable. Even Neymar wouldn't stop me picking Brazil over them

Think you are very wrong on Belgium

A team that could win world cup are not overrated. In fact they haven't hit their full potential yet.

Belgium could win this about 4 -1

Defending is an afterthought in this match so far

Amazing to see the difference in De Bruyne when he's actually allowed play where he should be

Flat out from Belgium and a bit lazy from Brazil.

Memories of Germany 4 years ago, might creep into the Brazilians minds :)

Great finish. Good work from Lukaku after he did his best to f*ck it up with his initial touch.

Lukaku did brilliant, as did De Bruyne

Lukaku falling kind of made de bruyne take the shot

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,001 ✭✭✭✭FixdePitchmark

Who was saying Belgium are overrated ?

They are growing by the year and by game I see

Such a beautiful strike from de Bruyne.

It's been a good match so far.

Brazil won't get back into this. Could be 4-0 or more

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,212 ✭✭✭shamrock55

    That's Brazil done and dusted

Martinez finally stops ****ing around and plays the system that best suits them, shock horror look what happens.

Jesus just proved his worth there, useless

De Bryune and Hazzard are 2 of the best players at the world cup - and in the same team

You couldn't say that for many teams at this W/C - it is all about individuals trying to do it for a team.

Germany and Spain real teams but gone.

A lot of atheists in here tonight!

I'd say guys with money on Brazil saying a quick prayer after they conceded the first goal.:P

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,611 ✭✭✭✭ERG89

Casemiro is missed in midfield there. Fernandinho ain't getting his work done or getting his foot on the ball.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,001 ✭✭✭✭FixdePitchmark

    Kevin hardly ever wastes opportunity

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,001 ✭✭✭✭FixdePitchmark

    Fair play Willian

Only one to see that one or two seconds after Brazil lose ball is when Belgium most dangerous.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 641 ✭✭✭raiders11

Maybe mentioned before but is it 9 premiership players on the Belgium team?

I'll never understand how or why Brazil pick Jesus over Firmino

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,349 ✭✭✭✭super_furry

Now I admit I don't watch Italian football outside of the Champions League, but has anyone ever seen anything to suggest that Alisson is worth €100 million? I've never seen him be anything more than alright.

Brazil being very Brazil here, nice to see Belgium play up to their ability a bit more, definitely more to the game changer being in from the start obvs and Martinez playing a system that suits his players.

Too many passengers as usual for Brazil and ****e managing tbh, individual brilliance has got them through to this point and you can't see them coming back from two down. Be some game if they do though!

He has had a really poor tournament.

The problem for Brazil is that Belgium look great on the counter, not great when you are two down.

Chasing the game against the best counter attacking team in the tournament. Good night and good luck. This game ends 3-0

Infuriates me that the BBC focus on England during half time of every bloody game. That first half was packed full of action yet here we have gabby speaking to Southgate. FFS

ITV do same and would think RTE would do same if we were in QFs tomorrow

How in gods name is Jesus starting he has been crap , Firmino is better at every part of the game

They are different players. Firmino is not a striker-striker, he is more of a facilitator striker. Brazil don't need that, they need a goal scorer which Jesus is although he has been playing poorly this tournament

Just taking their prem league stats it is clear to see:

Goals per match: Jesus - 0.51, Firmino 0.35
    Shooting Accuracy: Jesus - 57%, Firmino 44%

    Passes per Match, Jesus - 21.36, Firmino - 36.02

I know, just a couple of high level stats but the point I am long wind-idly trying to make is Jesus fits better with the way Brazil play

Next goal if there is one is crucial obviously,

At least Firmino is getting a full half, not sure about Jesus out wide though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,214 ✭✭✭✭StringerBell

Neymar is some man to just hold on to the ball

Neymar is really feeling that last year of partying right now.

    De Bruyne is magic,

Lukaku is a bit clumsy at times.

I wouldnt read a whole lot into any transfer fee anymore. It's monopoly money. But he is definitely worthy of the demand. And with Courtois probably off, Chelsea will have to fork oit.
Plenty of marketing appeal also to recuperate some of the fee

    Booking if dive..ffs

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,610 ✭✭✭IncognitoMan

That's a shocking dive and to want VAR to look at it is even worse

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,775 ✭✭✭✭Gbear

It's quite a dive if even Neymar has enough shame to deny it was a foul.

Marcelo playmaker at the moment for Brazil

Definite penalty. Kompany clearly caught him.

Hazard with an impression of Neymar doing an impression of Hazard.
