Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. Special thank you to the Cameramen and directors for getting so many shots of Swedish women in when it became clear they might and then would be going home.

Pickford made some fine saves but overall a fairly comfortable win for England.

Now let's see if Russia shock Croatia.

He'll be a candidate for man of the match i'd say. Along with Maguire maybe

I wonder if he beat his stats against Colombia today?

Distance covered - 15.3 kms. Next best was Henderson - 14.2 kms
Sprints - 60, next best was Trippier with 48
Top speed - 33.52 km/hr, Walker also clocked same speed.

Not bad for someone who is "rubbish". ;)

Tbf seeing running stats after a game as a way of saying a player had a great game may sum up a match more than the below comment does.
    Henderson bossed that game imo

Henderson in a WC semi final, something is so wrong with that statement.

Henderson has been very good in the last year.

The criticism he gets from some Liverpool fans is wrong. Must be too obsessed with looking at goals/assists on whoscored.

I doubt the guy has read a book in his life anyway! (and I am not saying that tongue in cheek either!!)

I liked when the main commentator referred to hearing a player being described as 'obdurate' and how he thought it was apt. He then did the pause for Keown to say something. But instead there was 5 seconds dead air.

Or when he exclaimed how Stones needs to "calm down"

No offence but those stats mean diddly. He was competing in a football match not a marathon. What about touches, chances created, assists, goals scored, key interceptions, saves made etc.?

You mention the stats that mean diddly, then you ask about saves made????

This tournament has been hailed as a great wc.

I would agree that's there's been a great deal of drama, but jez some of the quality has been shocking.

Those 2 teams today, easily the worst England and Sweden teams I can ever remember. Germany must be watching at home wondering how that Sweden team topped them.

But I think it just shows how the standard of football is plummeting at international level. Teams can't even muster a shot in target in wc knockout games. They are so poor. Going out with a whimper cos they have next to no quality.

The 1St half of that England game was bang average, yet you switch on the media and they are raving? Even Klinsmann was. I thought he'd be the voice of reason and bring a bit of normality to the English getting ott, but he agreed. It was shocking quality. Sweden offered next to nothing.

It was a poor game but I’ve seen a lot lot worse at other world cups including Ireland matches. Also I’ve seen a lot worse England teams.

I think it’s been a great World Cup. Loads of goals. Defenders finally being punished for the “dark arts” in the box. Plenty of upsets.

It may seem that the standard of international football has gone down to you but I don’t agree. Spain imploded days before the kick off and were always going to have problems after that. Brazil have been.. well Brazil. Overhyped based on past glories. Germany finally came a cropper after years of somehow finding a way to get through when not playing particularly well.

Belgium and France in parts have been excellent and played some stunning football.

World cups are usually a bore overall. Teams struck with fear of losing and it usually only gets worse the further it goes.

This has been the best World Cup for me in 20 years.

Peach of a goal. I totally underestimated the Russians, thought they'd struggle to get out of the group.

Russians seemed all over the place positionally there.

Two lovely goals in this game so far.

Russia can feel a little unlucky to be level.

There we go. A defender completely out of position and a goal results.

Thank God for that, the thought of an England-Russia semi was ringing alarm bells!

This is probably the best English team I've seen myself.
Not the best personnel but they have a clear plan of how they want to play and that's the difference imo.

Southgate deserves a lot of credit.

I would say it is the best team since thier euro 96 version.
But that was played at home.

I suppose Big Sam will take credit for it somehow?
He was an unbeaten England manager after all!

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

This is all playing into England's hands. It doesn't matter who wins this, they'll both have two 120 minute games in a row.

    Best you've seen?

A team with an awful midfield and 3 of the ropiest defenders you're likely to see?
