Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I have my head stuck into a spreadsheet and excel or maths in general just isn't my thing.

Each row has an item and each item falls into one of 3 categorys of expenditure.

I need to show the % expenditure for each category.

Or failing that I can manually tot up each category but I don't know the formula to show the % (I'm crap at maths)

So let's say total expenditure was 20000
3800 was spent on Category A
11200 was spent on Category B
5000 was spent on Category C

what's the formula to show each categorys percentage of expenditure.

I realise this is simple maths for some but I've been given a project that's way over my head.

Come on boardsies make me look intelligent to the boss :)

There is definitely better ways to do it, but off the top of my head, you could just do =(Category A / Total Expenditure)*100

    +1 for the above.

    Take category c . Was 5000 out of a total 20000.

So it's 5000 divided by 20000.... multiply the answer by 100

    =25%

    Another easy example.

Say it was 1 euro from a total of 10 euro...

    1 divided by 10...multiply by 100 = 10%

That makes sense now - I don't know what it is with me and numbers - my brain just gets a bit stressed out. My level of knowledge is that half of 2 magic beans is 50% of the magic beans! (actually doubting myself now if thats right!)
