Just wonder what's the opinion of ventusky. Just having a look there and its showing very little snow cover for anywhere in Ireland. What is its data based off.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,008 ✭✭✭icesnowfrost

Dew points are all sub zero from Galway to drogheda and all north above that line

Don't mean to be sort of off topic but look at the snow depths here on the ECM 12z for Sunday.

It's not off thread. Sunday is part of the same cold snap.

Looks interesting indeed! Could yet be a snow event...

Very wintry here in SW Donegal. It was a dodgy enough drive home blowing hail making visibility poor, roads all white with it. Nice to see the ground white for a change

I meant a bit off topic considering the fact that everybody is talking about the current conditions and tonight/tomorrow :P and I'm here going on about Sunday.

Impressive especially because it's the ECM that's showing it and that it's only +72hrs away.

The 6 o'clock news weather saying Sunday will produce snow in the northern half of the country. Knife edge stuff though

We've a late evening santa visit booked for Sunday and it'd be magical for a bit of snow to show up so I'm checking for Sunday updates all the time so thank you.

Down the road,Current temp in Arklow 3.1c
    Dew point -1c
Pretty sure any shower brave enough to reach here will be snow
    Biting NW wind
    Clear sky

Is the DUB TAF still saying sleet showers this evening and tonight?
If so whoever wrote it needs a toe in the ass

It's very extreme, 17.7 inches in the Dublin/Wicklow mountains- 12 inches widely for Dublin. Can't see it happening but would absolutely love to see that amount fall...

Yup still saying sleet, and at that it's only a chance of sleet.

    Perhaps a lack of precipitation?

Snow in Dublin mountains just off Tallaght.

I think a lack of thought tbh or a slipshod subordinate on duty ,there will be precip and it will be snow
As I said earlier ,whoever wrote it has one section of the met office forecasting snow showers in Kildare Meath turning to sleet as they hit Dublin coming off a land breeze northwesterly
There’s only one word for that thinking Stupid!

Incidentally ,though an entirely different weather scenario,Xmas eve 2010’s taf at DUB had no snow
As we all know the airport had to close again that day due to heavy snow
