Yup still saying sleet, and at that it's only a chance of sleet.

    Perhaps a lack of precipitation?

I've learned not to entirely trust the TAFs for DUB. From experience during Windstorms they underestimate the strength of the wind by about 5 to 10 kts. I remember a couple of years ago arriving back to DUB from Glasgow and while there we had checked the weather back in Dub, no mention of snow in the metar or TAF, checked the ATIS on way in and still no mention of snow. Landing on runway 28 about 30 mins later and it was covered in slush and the ground all around the airport was white. Anyway I'm completely off topic here. Apologies Mods.

It's very extreme, 17.7 inches in the Dublin/Wicklow mountains- 12 inches widely for Dublin. Can't see it happening but would absolutely love to see that amount fall...

Sunday could hammer anywhere that the precip stays as snow as there will be a lot of precip
It’s more likely that there’ll be snow cover somewhere to the north and west of the low well inland where there’s a land breeze but it will be washed away as it turns back to rain
Places like sally gap or places near aughavannagh in Co. Wicklow could see all snow and deep snow
    Couldn’t say

Anyone got an opinion on models for Sunday?
BBC weather seem to be think there is a good possibility for heavy snow for the north of Ireland and North Leinster but say that it's a complex situation

Getting pretty gusty here now with some hail.

I think a lack of thought tbh or a slipshod subordinate on duty ,there will be precip and it will be snow
As I said earlier ,whoever wrote it has one section of the met office forecasting snow showers in Kildare Meath turning to sleet as they hit Dublin coming off a land breeze northwesterly
There’s only one word for that thinking Stupid!

Incidentally ,though an entirely different weather scenario,Xmas eve 2010’s taf at DUB had no snow
As we all know the airport had to close again that day due to heavy snow

A bit harsh. Using language like stupid and needing a toe in the ass is a bit uncalled for. I agree that maybe -SHSN should maybe be in there as a PROB30 or 40 but I don't think that person in Shannon should get a kick in the ass for it...

As said it's knife edge. ECM has the most favorable track. Literally there is 100 miles in it.

Possibility of more widespread snow is increasing though...

Met Éireann's aviation warnings for today/overnight. Only Knock mentions snow accumulations.

KNOCK EIKN AD WRNG 02 VALID 071700/081200 SNOW FBL 1 TO 3CM FCST =

It's been upgraded slightly to now read 3 to 5 cm. Still no snow warnings for the other airports.

Its a snow risk chart. We don't see that type of coverage in Ireland at such a close time frame.

Pity the rain and sleet had drowned the place not good for snow settle. Why do we always get sleet first

Snow has often settled after it rained.

Thank you. So the red is the coverage then ? So when you say lucky it means for weather people like yourself and others.

Well that Netweather for North Tipp is wrong - there was light drizzle, not even a hint of sleet.

Does the second image suggest that South Kilkenny /Waterford will see some snow on Monday?

The red is the coverage. We are lucky to see such set ups at such a close time frame for people like myself who have an interest in meteorology. :)

freezing solid outside now, those snow flakes well and truly stuck to the car with no sign of melting. Anything that falls here during the night should be snow or hail till dawn at least.
