Living abroad and heard this awful news last week, he was one of those people who, whether you knew him personally or not (I didn't, sadly) you were aware of who he was just because of how much he contributed to making the city the lively engaging place it really is, both through his fantastic shop as a hive of activity and through organising gigs all over the place, encouraging young bands, and just generally being a central part of the life of the town. I miss KK every single day, and part of the reason for that is people like Willie Meighan who make it a place worth missing, give it a bit of that energy that is so hard to define but that you can feel when you're there.

RIP, the town has lost something irreplaceable in him.
