Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Should Russia be banned from the 2018 World Cup?

    Ban the hosts?

    Controversial.

If we were to ban the countries who dope, I'd guess a lot of the countries at WC2018 might not be allowed to play.

Most (right thinking) cointries try to keep the racists and homophobes out of power though.

Ban the hosts, and with most fans say there's no doping in football? Ya, doubt FIFA will go there, opens up a can of worms if they admit players are doped

To ban the host nation from their own tournament six months in advance sounds barmy. If the Russian football team are doping then it isnt working. They are terrible. Couldnt get out of the group in the Confederations tournament.

Yes...but they won't. Even if they were not hosts, FIFA would still turn a blind eye.

Yes and maybe let Ireland in instead. Think we're the most deserving of those who missed out

Ah hold on now. Before Gallas got that controversial goal the tie was 1-1 so the best we could probably hope for was penalties at that stage. There is no guarantee that we could have won that shootout. Your forgetting also the FAI took a sneaky €5m from FIFA for that controversy so there was the payback.

As for number 2, its a squad game. Its not nice to see but bad injuries happen in football all the time. This is no reason whatsoever to allow us into a World cup. Are you forgetting the lacklustre display out in Georgia among others?

Being brutally honest, our football team while they are an honest hardworking group of lads would add absolutely nothing to the World Cup. The Denmark disaster pretty much rubberstamped this fact.

We add the greatest fans in the land. And we're clean unlike Russia and our players don't go around dressing up blackface which instantly makes us more deserved than those nations.

Now your really clutching at straws. The best fans in the world who walked out in their droves when Denmark scored the fourth goal?

If we get to a World cup, id prefer it to be on merit and not just for any bulls*it reasons like 'the craic factor' or because we were wronged in a match.

Take it easy there "tipp_Gunner", don't want "TheCitizen" weighing in again with his endless defending of MON.

Why should the world be punished for Russia's misdeeds. Might as well give the last position to a herd of sheep and a sheepdog keeping them penned in their own box.

Considering 80% of tickets are sold to russians no chance. That's crazy talk. Way to late to ban the host nation.
