Doing a PGCE in Northern Ireland

    I'm looking at doing a PGCE next year with a view to becoming a qualified teacher and finding work in an international school somewhere in Europe. I've got some questions and I apologise in advance if they're a bit stupid.

    If I do a PGCE in Northern Ireland, will that be just as good as doing one in in mainland Britain?

    Is it necessary to work in the UK for a NQT year after the PGCE, or am I good to start applying for schools abroad once I get the PGCE?

    That depends what you mean by "as good as".
    Both will qualify you to be a primary teacher in Northern Ireland, the Rep, the UK, and European schools. However, the vast majority of international schools would expect you to have your NQT year completed, and usually a second year also.

    Many international schools advertise on tes.co.uk it might be useful for you to check out some of the jobs on offer at the minute and their requirements.
