The wolves only approach within a certain distance and no further.

Watching them move, Moy knows they won't go within a certain distance of Othegre.

Othegre stretches and gets out of the cart. She darts forward a few feet to see what the wolves will do.

Ekbard comes a possible solution for the cliff.
"Guys, at 300 feet, we could get everything up to the top with a skilled climber and 6 lightweight ropes, and 14 full strenght ropes, a grappleling hook or some spikes and a block and tackle. what we need is for someone to run for the supplies and for the most skilled climber among us to summit the cliff with the 6 light weight ropes attached to the 14 heavy duty ropes set up the block and tackle and pull everything to the top using the heavy duty ropes."

The wolves seem content that Othegre is there, turn and leave. The party is not to be prey for today. A single strong male and a pup remain as the rest leave.
