Is no one having a bit of Costa stepping up? He could either catapult himself into the title picture or be thoroughly outclassed.

    He's not human.

    Yes, there's something almost...unnatural...about him.

Recently rewatched DC v GUS and JJ v GUS,two unreal fights.
The pressuring from DC was relentless.

JJ won by unanimous decision. DC by split. I thought DC's win was much more obvious.
I do think JJ won though.

Yeah it's set and Jared Cannonier is fighting David Branch now.

UFC 230 looks a a bit meh now.

I actually prefer the Weidman vs Jacare fight, had zero interest in the rematch

Just looks like a weaker PPV now, IMO.

Horrendous planning from the UFC for this flagship card.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,795 ✭✭✭dulux99

It was bad planning and its not an amazing card, but look the end of the year for the UFC is looking brilliant. Every numbered event (maybe apart from 230) is incredible. So it's not all bad.

The 25 year anniversary fight night card in Denver this November should also be great fun. Edgar vs Korean Zombie and Cowboy vs Mike Perry.

Definitely... But what's the story with Cerrone? Didn't he put up an Instagram recently showing his arm in a cast?

Three hasbeens and a headcase! haha

    Big one for cowboy!

Swansong for Edgar? It should be...

Would hate to see Frankie hanging around get knocked out by other guys in the top ten

I hope Cowboy wins. Hard to see it happening. I'd just hate to see him get KO'ed.

He did but at this stage it would be weird if Cerrone didn't nearly die before a fight. McGregor deservedly gets praise for never pulling out of a fight once the contract is signed but he's got nothing on Donald, the man has had more outside of fight/training/camp injuries than any other fighter I know of but he always turns up on fight night. He is a madman.

Zombie is only 30 believe it or not, hardly a has been. Think Cowboy is at nothing fighting at 170 especially against a puncher like Perry

Definitely a has-been - this is second time around in the UFC. He started fighting over ten years ago - more like near 32 than 30. Regardless of age, has a lot of miles on the clock - took a long break too. Two years of military service.

Genuine question, are you getting him mixed up with someone? That's the only explanation I can think of for the above opinion. Yeah he's had a two year layoff but that was out of his control. He's 4-1 in his last 5, with the loss coming to Aldo?

Probably thinking of Gomi or Stungun. KZ defo isn't a has been imo.

Won his last fight be first round KO and performance of the night bonus after his long lay off. He's definitely not a has been. He had almost 4 years off too

Yeah, Aldo. IN 2013! Five years ago!!!! His last fight was in early 2017. Against Dennis Bermudez. Come on now! The Zombie has taken more head shots than Marilyn Monroe.

4 and 1 - that goes back to 2011! One of those wins was against a 23 year old Justin Poirier in 2012!!!!

If Zombie gets a title shot - they'll be hard up!

Who's saying anything about a title shot?

He had mandatory military service. Nothing he could do about that. You're writing him off before he's even come back, based on no evidence whatsoever. You're talking nonsense.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,550 ✭✭✭evolving tipperary

Yeah, we'll see what he does. He had to do two years service. He was gone for four years. You don't know what you're talking about.

It's a lay-up for Frankie. But Frankie might not have the heart for even lay ups anymore.

    Two hasbeens.

This guy! Who never has point to make! Only abuse to give! Embarrassing.

    Thanks for coming!

A few more explanation points for you.

Frankie is hardly a has been. Top 5 FW and was on the cusp of a title fight but took a really ill-advised match with Ortega instead of waiting for it like most would. He's a loveable fighter and could still beat any FW on his night.

Also don't accuse someone of not knowing what they're talking about just because they disagree with your critique and then cry about receiving abuse.

Dennis Bermudez did beat the current champ in fairness and he was on a 2 fight win streak for Zombies comeback fight seemed appropriate.

The Dustin fight easily one of the top 5 fights that year, cracking fight ya know the ones fans strive for. If he beats Edgar and wins one more he's in the picture for sure. After all outside of the title fight Bektic and Moicano are the only fighters ahead of him with win runs and that run is 2 hardly a massive jump.

The Dustin fight was six years ago...

Bermudez has lost his last four...

The Bermudez fight was early 2017... it's almost 2019...

Frankie is lovable. And was a great fighter. But imo, on the slide...
