Two cracking fights hopefully to look forward to.

Would not be surprised to see Kelvin get the ko in round one or two may throw a few bob on it.

    Bit of acne that's all.

Is it? Genuine question. Would acne affect the back of someone's neck?

I must say lads, for an actual live weigh in (as opposed to the ceremonial ones), the crowd last night has to be the dullest I think I ever heard. They were like an opera crowd.

Sure it was on early in the morning there wasn't it?

    Can you blame them?

11am. Hardly the crack of dawn. Most weigh ins are on at 2pm local time.

Most ceremonial weigh ins are on in evening/late afternoon.

Look at early prem league kickoffs. No atmosphere

    Yes.

Cool, good man - think you need to look again.

Fighters were on stage at 11:30 am

Skip to about 28 minutes. Same country, same time of the day, but without a hometown fighter in the main event. It's like night and day compared to last night.

    ? And?

Is this really a thing? Getting into a debate over how good or bad the atmosphere at a weigh-in was?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,795 ✭✭✭dulux99

    callaway92 wrote: »

Your explanation for poor weigh in atmosphere was the time of morning.

So here's a video of a weigh in for an event also held in Oz, where the weigh in was held at the same time of the morning, and the atmosphere was exponentially better.

Not sure what's confusing about that.

Anyways, stupid thing to be arguing about. I thought the weigh in seemed flat, you didn't see an issue with it, let's agree to disagree.

    For fúcks sake.

The fight card is now worse than the fight night in Brazil last week.

PPV is going to be so poor for this now. Awful for Kelvin having travelled so far.

Is there an alternate, or is the fight just scrapped?

Nope no middleweights on the card apart from the now main event. Badly strung together card mad to think they've dropped the amount of numbered events(PPV) this year in what I believe was the view to lessen the likelihood of these situations occurring yet here we are.

Did they drop the amount of numbered events? They have 1 ppv a month scheduled for this year like they always do though obviously last month's ppv was cancelled.

Looks like Johnny Walker will be fighting Misha Cirkunov at UFC 235 after OSP got injured. That will be a big test for him.

Nate Diaz will be in Kron Gracie's corner this weekend so for anyone who misses seeing Nate in the UFC that will have to do. It's a real good looking card this weekend too.

    Main Card

    Cain Velasquez vs. Francis Ngannou
    James Vick vs. Paul Felder
    Cortney Casey vs. Cynthia Calvillo
    Alex Caceres vs. Kron Gracie
    Vicente Luque vs. Bryan Barberena
    Andre Fili vs. Myles Jury
    Preliminary Card
    Aljamain Sterling vs. Jimmie Rivera
    Benito Lopez vs. Manny Bermudez
    Andrea Lee vs. Ashlee Evans-Smith
    Scott Holtzman vs. Nik Lentz
    Early Prelims

    Renan Barao vs. Luke Sanders
    Jessica Penne vs. Jodie Esquibel
    Aleksandra Albu vs. Emily Whitmire

I think there's more hype behind him than deserved to be honest. I really like him as a fighter and he's very, very fast - probably lacks in power which means when he does come up against some of the top guys he will struggle but I reckon he'd give Gastellum a good fight. Romero or Bobby would fúck him up however, there's a distinct gap between those two boys and the rest of the division imo

He doesn't have the power to keep Gastellum off him no chance,
One thing beating a counter fighter who's way past it like Silva different game keeping these young beast's off you ,

His last kick boxing fight he was brutally ko'd with a left hook b, I can see the same happing when these stronger fighter's keep him backed up and don't stand off ,

They needed to give Cain an extra day to get injured.

On another note, that card in Prague the week after might well be the worst I have ever seen.

    Woeful.
