I remember when Hathaway put a serious beating on Diego Sanchez years ago, he was very highly touted after this. It was a big upset at the time. He had a touch of the Rory McDonald about him. Shame he had to retire.

Saw somebody on R/MMA the other day make the not unreasonable argument that you might be better off having a so-called glass jaw than having a Diaz-like chin.

With advent of blood testing that can test for concussion etc, you'd wonder how combat/ contact sports in their current guise might look in the future - I'd wager unrecognisable.

UFC free fight Khabib Vs Iaquinta.

Recall this as not too competitive on first watch, indeed Khabib never in any danger. But there's snippets of opportunity that could be capitalised on as the fight progresses, Al demonstrates that much.

Question is if anybody will have the reserves and skill to make anything of such opportunities. Plus did Khabib deviate from game-plan due to fatigue/ taking rounds off/ wanting to trade?

Could be but he was always a bit of a clown outside of the cage, punched a police officer years ago. I think now he's just not occupied enough with fighting and all of his focus is on his other love, drinking and drugs which is leading him to get into trouble more often.
