I wonder that if it does, then khabib out for the summer, will they just wait or make Conor vs Tony for interim while Justin implodes.

They should just throw them into an ultimate fighter type place.

few mates from each on either side, Faber and snoop commentating, charge $100 PPV to make up for gate and let them fight.

its the 123rd time being cancelled, its going to be like Tito V Liddell 3 by the time they eventually fight

UFC will do the same if it comes to it.
Will be surreal with no cried, like TUF tryouts

it will be like a Dubai card.

Khabib v Ferguson is not until April 19th. The world will either be on it's knees and we'll have more important things to be worrying about by then, or Covid-19 will be all forgotten about, just a distant memory of a fuss about nothing!

Absolute no chance the UFC has Tony v khabib behind closed doors ,
Its there biggest money maker of the year ( unless Conor gets the winner )

But wouldn't most of that money be from PPV?

Surely better to have the card behind closed doors than to cancel the event?

Yes the larger number comes from the pay per view but still make money on the gate,
McGregor v Khabib was 17 million on the gate ,not a number to be sniffed at ,

It's a tricky one, I think it's very possible that it could take place without a crowd. This thing is having massive ramifications on sporting events, we're just starting to see now. The F1 race in Aus was just cancelled.

It’s going to be far worse by then.
    This is only the beginning.

Cannot see any more UFC event going ahead after this weekend.

New York have banned gatherings with more than 500 people, not looking good for 249. It'll get a lot worse by then too

Bellator 241 tomorrow night is behind closed doors. All tickets being refunded.

The gate is worth a few million. $2-5m (Last event there made $3m).
The PPV is worth $50-100m+. So about 20 times as much.
If the the state steps in, which is looking likely, they'd be insane to throw way the PPV money for the sake of gate money. PPV could do quite well with the world on lockdown

The Brazil card is on with no crowd. Its going to air on ESPN AND ESPN+ and it's been moved to an earlier time slot. With little to no other sports being broadcast this could rack up huge viewing numbers.

How on earth is a sporting event where there will be bodily fluids flying allowed to take place?

Because covid-19 can't be created out of thin air.
If neither of the are infected, and I'd assume they'll be screened. No amount of sweat or tears will create coronavirus.

Dana just put out a video saying all events will go ahead as scheduled but some will be moved from their original host city to the Apex in Vegas (where the contender series is held)

Hilarious. Or not. More proof, if ever it were needed, that Dana only cares about $.

There are a lot of people involved in an MMA event, you cannot keep tabs on them all. It only takes one being careless and everybody could get it.

Many organisations have banned indoor gatherings of more than 100 people.

The PGA tour which is a lot less likely to be of risk to people have called off all events for the next month. They were going to go with no fans but have decided it's still too risky for the players. No NBA, no NCAA sport, no NHL, no MLB, no MLS. Why are UFC different?

I think the UFC have to follow every other sporting organisation in the USA and stop.

It doesn't suit me, a sports lover and MMA fan, but sense has to prevail over money.

You asked about the bodily fluids. I answered for the bodily fluids.
All of those other sports have much more people involved. They also have multiple matches per fixture week. That’s way higher risk.

It’s feasible that they could screen all staff, corners and coaches prior to the event. If they do, that would mitigate risk.
I’m talking about no fans there obviously.

Fight Con in Cork was very enjoyable yesterday.

Got photos and autographs with Mir, Askren, Wonderboy and MVP.
MVP was really cool and friendly with everyone. Wasn’t sure what he would be like. The chats with them all upstairs were great.

Wonderboy is literally the nicest person in the world. Can’t even imagine him cursing.

Gallagher is tiny in person. Nothing of him in it when you’re standing beside him.

Mir is an absolute unit, fists are massive!!

Would definitely go again next year if they get high profile fighters again.

Saw in Facebook one for Dublin has been announced for September. Bigger stars might come for this one as it's in the capital, might be something to look out for

UFC events to go ahead behind closed doors, will be super weird

    I'd still wager Khabib/Ferguson won't, 6 times?

Mick Conlons fight was moved to behind closed doors the subsequently cancelled after talking to the NYSAC, id be nearly positive the UFC will get the same treatment and itll be cancelled.

They may move it to the Apex like the next couple of events however.

Is it not very unwise for the UFC to be pushing ahead with cards?
