People are free to spend their own money however they wish.

I suppose that if a person is already dropping a few grand on flights, accommodation and drinking, then the difference between 100 and 500 for the ticket doesn't really change the overall cost of the holiday too much

Still, I'd rather take that 500 and put it towards some flights and accommodation for a weekend trip to somewhere in Europe. Or any other of a hundred uses I could find for it

A few grand? Thanks for overestimating my spending power but that isn’t even close haha. I spent 850 on flights and 4 nights in a good hotel, close to 300 on the fight ticket (in euros) and got by on 300 spending money as I went on my own and could do things on my own budget. It’s possible to go the states on a minimum wage salary and enjoy yourself, believe it or not. Also won back a nice chunk in the casino on the morning I left, so all in, it cost me a touch over one grand.

My point is, you’re talking out your hole. Enjoy your 500 weekend trips in Europe though, because you clearly get value out of them and one can do as they like with their money.

This thread has basically covered every topic imaginable at this point. :pac:

Yeah you go do that. Enjoy those European cities that you can visit any weekend of any year.

This will be my 4th trip for a McGregor fight and they've been some of the most memorable times in my life. I won't get this chance again.

I've been to the euros supporting Ireland and its great but we get pumped every time. Its a rare thing to follow an Irishman at the top of his sport, an opportunity I don't think I'll ever get again.

It bloody works ....nearly 500k watching on utube and something like 3million on all formats worldwide......this cracks me up, what does the average UFC presser attract 15/20k?

I'm just looking at the UFC youtube page now and the viewing numbers for the press conference are ridiculous

The actual PC has 4m views
    The face off has 950K
    The highlights vid has 2.4m
    The recap vid has 450K

That's a hell of a lot of interest

Talking out my hole? For assuming that it would be a few grand for someone to fly to Vegas for the guts of a week?

Flights + accommodation + spending money + 500 for a ticket. (Never mind the cost of days lost due to not working etc.) And it's outrageous to say that would be up to a few grand?

Hardly an outrageous suggestion now was it

Sure your own experience on a budget was 1450 for a ticket that cost 200 less. If your ticket was 500 instead of 300 then you'd be at 1650 already. Fair play to you for keeping your spending down to 300. To get from door to door and back again, including transport, eating, drinking, a few souvenirs and then spending at the casino. (You mentioned the win you had gambling but not the money you spent gambling so I assume that was in the 300)

Again, you're just looking for an argument. People can spend what they want. If you want to spend 500 on a ticket to some mickey mouse UFC event then by all means do. I had only made the point that people might justify the 500 in the context of being a (expensive) component of an overall larger holiday experience. Same as someone mentioned following the Irish soccerball team. Again, part of that is the experience or travelling away and the craic as important, if not more so, than the actual match.

Would you drop 500 Euro to get in the door to see it if it was on in the Point on a Saturday afternoon? Maybe you would

Grand. Good for you. I hope you manage to sell your spare 500 Euro ticket to some other person.

But still, 500 quid for an average seat at an event that might last 60 seconds.

The event is guaranteed to last 4 or 5 hours. Thank God a ticket wasn't wasted on you

Funny how you can invalidate such a long post with just six words. That was literally the point you were opposing, and then you continued to do so immediately in the next sentence! You say people can spend what they want, yet you then take the piss out of people.....spending what they want.

I think you’ll find there’s only one poster here looking for an argument, and it isn’t myself or dulux99. Done with this pointless exchange, there’s no sense to most of the points you’re making, but given the username, that’s probably just part of the shtick.

I wasn't the one selling the ticket, genius.

Lads cut out the crap and personal abuse - if you are interested in buying the ticket send the user a pm, if you are not then move on. There is no need to pass remarks about how much someone paid and how you wouldnt pay that much. What people spend on a ticket is their own business. End of discussion on it.

The fanboy syndrome that you think has taken over anyone that doesn’t agree with you is eclipsed only by your all consuming hatred of him.

Made a comment on this post earlier but just for the rest of you - there is no place here for this kind of comment. The fanboy nonsense and personal attacks can end too. You can follow whoever you want and take a side but discuss it on here in a civil manner..

Roger that, message understood. A moment of madness. Keep up the good work.

    Jaysus. Are those ringside seats?

I've never been to an MMA event but if they are priced at 500 quid, I never will be either. I think I paid 80-100 before for ringside seats at the national boxing stadium years ago but how your average punter could decide to shell out 500 quid for a random MMA event seat is beyond me.
Paying 500 for a random MMA event is probably CRAZY. But this isn't a random MMA event, and describing it as such is silly. Even if you're not a big MMA fan, you surely realise this is a huge event.
Any event in the national stadium is not remotely on the same level.

Cruz, Anik & Rogan are the commentary team for the ppv. Obviously Cormier was never an option for it.

As insightful as he is, I really can't stand Cruz in commentary. I'm taking bets on how many times he says "underhook" .

Yeah I'm not his biggest fan as a co-commentator. He comes across as a bit pompous/preachy or something.

Hopefully Anik and Rogan limit his airtime.

I think Felders been doing a good job.

I think Cruz is a lot better in the studio than he is on the commentary desk. Him and Bisping have a good rapport and they buzz of each other very well. Would rather not have him commentating this one.

I dont mind Cruz but would of prefered Jimmy Smith

Absolutely. He has been very enjoyable to listen to.

I wonder if there is ever a chance of Dan Hardy getting a shot on an American card. I enjoy his commentary too.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,834 ✭✭✭Useful.Idiot

There's something about Hardy's excited shouty voice during intense action that is a tad annoying. He's pretty good overall though.

A few online make a good point that it's good to have Cruz so that he can keep Rogan in check when he starts getting way too biased in favour of one fighter regardless of how the fight is going objectively. Cruz is very monotone and humourless but his on the fly technical analysis, especially when it hits the ground, can be very informative.

Slightly off topic but I wonder how well McGregor FAST is actually doing, only 4k subs on that youtube channel...

Yeah he will need to cut the cords on ventures not providing profit early enough or he will be fighting a lot more.

I do wonder how long the whiskey will be profitable for him ,
For the first month or so u'll have all the young lads buying bottles when out but when the hype dies down and its service as normal, Will whiskey drinkers buy it ?
    I can't see it lasting more than 2 year's

If it's a decent product and can sell on its taste/price it will be fine.

But I could imagine they will use others to sponsor it, all the social media pics with people drinking it, get it into music videos like Henessy.

I'd imagine he's got someone else keeping an eye on those things for him.
A lot of stuff will be just his name, and no personal risk attached.

I got a bottle of that whiskey. It's actually really nice. Just have to make it last to fight night now to toast the telly when Conor removes Khabib's head.
