If your da has Eir/BT sports on Sky, then he'll have a login for http://live.eirsport.ie/

Got this sorted myself the other day, as my mother has Eir broadband. Was checking it out last night for the CL. Pretty annoying that there seems to be a 2-3 minute delay in comparison to TV coverage. Would want to have your phone on silent and stay off boards in between rounds if you're gonna be watching it this way.

Yeah, it's ****e that the free add on to a broadband package you don't pay for that allows you access to all sorts of sporting events is on a bit of a delay.

I agree that much of the criticism of Khabib is irrational and based on reflexive anti-religious sentiment (and ignorance).

However the notion of talking nonsense and looking for things to justify ones dislike of a fighter could be applied far more so to CM's detractors, the majority of whom appear to be motivated not so much by mere dislike, but by an intense hatred that borders on pathological. To the degree that virtually ANY praise of him, no matter how rational or modest, is instantly met by the same hackneyed trope, namely accusations of "dick riding" or "ring tonguing" or any one of a plethora of crude homosexual innuendos. Ironically many of these were the very same people who screamed loudest about him being a "homophobe" during the Mayweather promotion circus.

Its amazing to observe how hatred can so completely warp a persons perceptions that they can only see the worst in an another human being. If CM gives a charitable donation, its just cynical publicity stunt (one poster seriously compared it to Al Capones soup kitchens lol). If he praises a past opponent such as Max or Aldo, its only to make himself look good by bigging up the guys he has beaten. If he cuts a promo to sell a fight then he is a WWE clown. If he chooses to take a more lucrative and prestigious fight for the lightweight belt instead of immediately rematching Aldo, its because he is a coward who is "afraid" of getting back in the cage with him. Yep that's right, afraid of the man he just spent 18 months chasing before starching him in 13 seconds. You couldn't make this stuff up. When the Khabib fight was being floated, I read plenty of posts on different fora where haters loudly declaimed that the fight will never materialise because McGregor is ducking him, knowing that he will get smashed. Even after the fight was announced some people were saying its a publicity stunt and Conor will find an excuse to drop out to avoid being humiliated. Oddly enough as the fight gets closer those voices have grown progressively quieter given that their confident predictions look increasingly stupid. When he voiced concern recently that Khabib would not make weight, and said he is prepared to fight Pettis or Tony, the fact that he mentioned Pettis was held up as evidence of him looking for an easier fight. And on and on on it goes. Its both pathetic and fascinating in equal measure.

There is no shortage of haters out there who can't even bring themselves to admit Conor is an elite fighter. I have witnessed otherwise intelligent knowledgeable adults vehemently insist to me that the only reason he accomplished what he has is because the fights were fixed, either by McGregor bribing his opponent or Dana paying them to take a fall. This is the kind of deranged ****e that haters spew on a regular basis, and the number who actually believe it is frightening.

Others have told me with an absolutely straight face that he is a "fraud" who has somehow fluked his way into being a 2 division champion, and when he finally faces fighter X then he will be found out. Of course when he beats them, said fighter immediately becomes a bum and then the narrative changes to "when he beats fighter Y he will be exposed". Even now, there are plenty of people bigging up Khabib (justifiably so imho) and talking about how he will absolutely wreck Conor. I would bet everything I own that if McGregor somehow beats him, especially with an early knockout, then immediately the very same folks will be loudly proclaiming that Nurmagomedov is just an overrated journeyman with a record padded out from crushing cans, and only when CM is forced to fight Ferguson will we see the truth.

Its perfectly fine to dislike a person based on their attitude or behaviour. There are some things about CM's public persona and antics that I don't care for either. But dislike is one thing. Spewing out any old nonsense to justify an irrational hatred is entirely another. Without a doubt, the finest exponents of the latter are the McGregor haters. Whatever about "Trump Derangement Syndrome", McGregor Derangement Syndrome is absolutely real.

    U OK hun?

Well, unfortunately I'm a Virgin Media customer, so this is my only option as it's not available on Virgin. I used to pay for it when it was. The 2-3 minute delay is there for the people who do pay for the broadband package too, so I don't see your point really, unless you were just seizing another opportunity to be an insufferable smartarse.

Just watched Embedded Ep.2. Am I the only one that got pissed off watching Tony Ferguson balance on a swissball? He's pulled from so many fights because of injury and he's balancing on a rubberball four days out from the fight?

He is constantly doing daft shît in the gym, it's best not to think about it :pac:

I thought the exact same thing when I was watching it. Even with him playing basketball, so easy to twist an ankle or knee doing either of those. He is clearly an idiot in how he approaches his welfare.

I can see him in a wheelchair tomorrow claiming McNuggets, Turamisu and Peyton are ducking him. He is an idiot.

As a fair weather MMA fan (i.e. when McGregor fights) this may be a misplaced view but I wanted to voice it and see.
It strikes me as interesting that I see this fight billed in many places as good guy Khabib (doesn't boast or smacktalk, just gets on with fight - good honest humble guy) versus scumbag McGregor (arrogant, trash talking, vulgar). Aside from the fact that most of that is performance and exaggeration, I get quite the opposite view of the two fighters from watching their fights.

They're both clearly good at what they do but in very different ways. Khabib is vicious. The few times he's finished an opponent he has done so mercilessly. I don't know the name of the fighter but it's the one where Khabib has the guy on the ground and holds his face in one hand and pummels it with the other. He does so repeatedly until the referee stops it. And if the ref didn't step in, you know he'd keep going and not even think about it.

I've seen enough of McGregor's fights to know he wouldn't do that. He never seeks to hurt a downed opponent anymore than is absolutely necessary. Think of the Buchinger fight. After he fell to the floor, Conor could easily have jumped on him and hammer fisted him but he saw he was done. I'm certain Khabib would have pummeled him. Any time Conor has had a nearly finished opponent down he has only ever really thrown a few perfunctory punches to satisfy the ref that the fight is over. The exception to this of course is Aldo but of course that was just 13 seconds into the fight so Conor can be forgiven for assuming Also still had a lot of fight left and he had to make his punches count.

Now, striking a downed opponent is of course part and parcel of the sport and I'm not saying Khabib is doing anything wrong, just that I think you can tell a lot more about how they are as men from how they fight rather than what they say. And what I see is that Conor is a respectful and fair fighter and Khabib is a vicious thug basically.

    This post is ridiculous.

There's no need to shut down a person's subjective opinion. We should be trying to encourage conversation in here, not chase it off.

80 blips for a feed and an open bar from 11 until the fight ends isn't bad value tbh.

just watching bad blood there and you seeing the americans after the bus incident is a laugh, "Hello DANA? conor mcgregor just through a dolly through our bus, yeah thats right" :D grown men like cry babies, no broken bones etc..

also rose is asked if she's ok and is quite calm and says, yeah I'm good, not a bother on her. now she's cowering in her house and cannot come out?? FFS!!
    Compo culture gone mad eh.

then it cuts to Khabib walking off the bus throwing uppercuts as he walks, the clown!

Rose was sexually abused as a kid, saw people being murdered in her neighbourhood, she grew up in a violent home with a father who suffered from schizophrenia. The girl has a lot of childhood trauma she's been very open about dealing with. The idea of something like that having a negative impact on her isn't all that strange.

Instead of being a crass fanboy, maybe try to understand context and show a bit of decorum?

As for the rest, most of the US fighters on the bus were university educated life long athletes who consider their profession just that, a profession. They don't go to work expecting 20 little scrotes from Dublin to be attacking their bus with railings and a metal trolley because somebody called their mate out for talking sh*t on TV.

Context? Ah lads. I'm the first to condone something if it genuinely puts someone in danger or whatever but the bus got attacked with a few bollards. The Man United bus a while back was getting destroyed with bottles and other missiles in front of thousands of fans and the videos of them inside was more or less banter.

I understand what happened in her life but the waffle shes coming out with is ridiculous. She's looking for an earner.

I hope they'll be beefing up security. Irish people and free bars don't mix. I can't imagine 5am and a load of MMA fans will necessarily help things, especially if people have been trying to get their "value for money" since 11!

jasus your a wiki wonder, yeah we all saw her profile and personal life trauma indicated before, I knew all that. so she goes through all of that and decided being slapped for a living is the way to go and that's ok, I get that, nothing bad there. But to expect a trolly coming through a window a few seats from her will set you back into PTSD'ville is a stretch for me considering her strength of character up to that.

And you can cool it with the typical fanboy bait like retorts there hermann rorschach, this is obviously a story close to your heart but you I did not abuse you to make a point so no need to abuse me, or am aloud say abuse?? or will you end up supine on a couch from that too?

The shht that people spew on here about 'americans' is fairly pathetic. Obviously either never been or only visited the very touristy spots, hanging out with their gas Irish pals in Irish bars.

It's not some massive movie set populated by extras from ****ty sit-coms that you can slay with your razor sharp Irish patter.
