    Hi lads

My mam keeps turning on the immersion switch on for hot water and the forgets it's on and ends up leaving it on for hours and hours - she has burned through 1 element already and heating system
Is only installed a year. I'm looking at timed immersion switches - ideally don't want to do digital as want to keep it simple but basically we are looking for a switch she can push or flick on and it will stay on for an hour or 2 and the auto switch off. I'm searching online but wondering if anyone has any input

    Thanks lads any input appreciated

I have one of these... As you can see, 2 pushes for half an hour just for a few dishes or wash my hair. :) Can't tell you much about costs to fit as it was here when I moved in.

Thsnks, yeah I'm actually looking at this device which is similar

I'm wondering does this direct replace the standard immersion switch ? OR ref above manual would you conned L & N out to your standard immersion switch so you still have control over bath/sink functionality of the element ?

    Thanks all for any input

You would put this in before the standard immersion switch in the circuit. To do this you would need to remove the live and neutral from the existing immersion switch and connect them to the new timer and then from the output of the timer connect a new live and neutral (of the same size cable) to the existing immersion switch. Leaving the on/off switch on the immersion switch in the on position all the time will mean that the timer has full control of the immersion and you will still be able to choose sink or bath.
This is probably best done by an electrician.

Just to check, do you have an immersion thermostat as well? If you're doing electrical works, mightn't be any harm to add one / or else get an immersion element with one integrated.

We had this issue with immersion being left on for hours if not days...

Got one of these. Nice simple and neat. Has saved days of if not weeks of electricity that would have been wasted. I put mine outside my hotpress.
