Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Hiya, 6th year student here, I'm currently interested in doing Electronic and Computing Engineering in NUIG and I was wondering how engineering here compares to other colleges and universities (the other ones I'm considering are UL, UCC and UCD)?

I'm also wondering if you do the common 1st year entry is your choice of course guaranteed for 2nd year (it is not guaranteed in UL for example but I know it is in UCD)?

any input would be greatly appreciated :)

I would imagine your choice for second year isnt at all guaranteed. But contact university for best answer.
What specificallt are you wondering about how it compares to other universites?

I suppose the college's reputation in relation to engineering and how the lecturers, labs and facilities are compared to other universities

As far as I know if you pick ECE in the CAO instead of undenominated that keeps you a place for the next year assuming you pass.

All first year Engineering do undenominated, so you could make an application to change course assuming you have the points for that stream.

Undenominated Eng would be done on your choice and if there isn't enough places done on grades AFAIK. I remember hearing that it just works out anyway, but its best to contact the College of Engineering and Informatics office and ask them just in case.
