I show the note to Kal and Flak, and start towards the western door. I walk slowly now, checking for traps on the floor and around the door

Moy finds no traps, neither does Kal.

Opening the door, they step into a room with a large wooden table, set for the evening, with a fireplace and a large painting of some lord.

The "guests" consist of 17 skeletons who stop their conversation when Moy, Kal and Flak enter.

"Who are you Cleric and your faith" asks a richly attired skeleton. "Not a fellow immortal I take it?"

Othegre's heart stops once more and her skin goes deathly pale.

Othegre feels the last beat and then nothing.

    Still nothing

"no no no NO NO NO!"
She starts pounding on her chest. Nothing. She flings herself against the wall a few times. Nothing.
"Not again. NOT AGAIN!" she shrieks, flinging her torch back the way they came (ooc : towards embalming room? Sorry, hope no one's behind me!). She races after the torch, frantically looking around, though it's not clear what for, barely noticing she's triggered the pitfall.

    Ekbard continues on down cautiously.
Ekbard enters a massive room. The ceiling is at least 20 meters high, every surface is pure onyx. Twenty-two pillars support the roof.

A massive Earth elemental stands in the center of the room with a red line dividing the room in front of him. Behind him lies a set of double doors.

The pit flings open. Othegre halts in mid air. The world has lost its grip on her once more.

"I am the mayor of this village. I am surprised the ones on the surface let you down here. Still they must have had good reason. Here for some treasure. The place has long been ransacked. Not that we care.

    More wine Carsisa?"

He holds a bottle to the skeleton on his left.

Reaching the entrance chamber Othegre begins her easy ascent of the rope, sliding up the wall like a rappelling moonwalk in reverse.
"Maybe I didn't do it right, maybe I can dig him up and try again... It has to!... But then I... No! I'm not doing that!"
She reaches the top of the rope and runs out into the night, pausing to vomit up the partially digested remains of the rations she ate earlier.

She tries to sense heartbeats. She knows the answer but she tries anyway.

"You're the mayor? What do you know of goings on in the village above?

Truth be told, we found our own way down here, our investigations led us astray it seems"

Is there another way out of this room?

(Ooc : ok, I didn't know the answer. I assumed they were us and our retainers last time and it'd be 16 at best :))

She picks one at random at follows it.

"Of course, the great Scarata showed us how to trap Death. Our ancestors had worshipped death, which gave a little magical advantage over him. With him bound, we can never die.

Oh, you also will never leave these crypts. But you're welcome to some wine. Only the dead may leave you see."

The Earth elemental turns to Ekbard, its surface a deep green.

You are not the mage Scarata, my creator, you may not pass.

Khalem legs it into the room.

"Cheers for triggering the pit. Now this fuker has beaten me black and blue each time I came in here. There must be a weakness...."

Two arrows from Goodie fly past the elemental and explode on the onyx floor.

The elemental turns white and orange.

"You have violated the Laboratorium of Scarata, Warlock of the Desert. Intruders are to be killed."

Othegre can hear the man speak.

"Hold on dear, let me check this distrubance."

He opens the door, looking out he sees no fire.

"I do not know you woman, begone immediately".

    I try bluffing the skellies...
"We are death cultists too. We are spending our last few hours exploring these corridors before we join you in your feast and spend eternity swapping tales. Where will we find the Warlock so we may converse with her before we shed the mortal coil?"

"A foreign accent. Carrig Eisteoir lies far to the East as well. So there are other cultists of death in other lands. You would fit in quite well. I thought Nír was a lord of justice or some such."

A woman speaks up "Perhaps monotheistic, god of all things, even death?"

    The mayor nods.

"Scarata lies in the Laboratorium beneath. Go to the embalming room, there is a set of stairs. She may tell you the details. Without proper work you see, not dying has negative effects. She can work the magic required to make it pleasant."

    He raises his glass.

    "To our new friends."

"You bound him above? Astounding! Well, we wish to explore the crypts some more. We shall head to meet Scarata, that we may join you in undeath."

"Actually.." I jab a thumb back over my shoulder, "do you know who this chap is? Do you even leave this room?"

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,769 ✭✭✭Mollyb60

Kal nods at the skeletons and backs out of the room slowly. Once out he quickly heads back to the embalming room and looks for the set of stairs, noting any traps along the way.

Othegre over powers the man easily (OOC: he is Level 0 like most regular people, won't bother with a fight) and begins to feed, it feels good....

    OOC: Check Intelligence.

Kal waits in the embalming room for the rest of the party.

Othegre drains him dry. He collapses to the ground dead.

    Then he stands up.

"Fuk!!! A bloody vampire, thanks a lot. I wanted a few more years of regular life. Off to the bloody crypts."

He pops his head in the door.

"Sorry dear, bloody roaming vampire. I'm dead, see you in three decades or so."

    She smiles weakly.

"Oh honey, so sorry. I'll come to the crypts each month end."

    He turns to Othegre.

    "Thanks again bitch."

    And storms off.

    She tries crossing the threshold.

The Elemental searches for Ekbard, but not finding him pounds toward Khalem. One blow connects with Khalem's jaw, enough to shake the room.

"Aye, now that's like the last time."

    He ducks the second blow.

    "OOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHH, YYYYEEEEAAAAHHHHH" he screams.

He swings his two axes, but they don't make a dent in the creature.

She begins heating a poker at the fire.

I sidestep the trap and move down the stairs towards the noise, moving just far enough to be able to see what causing it but no further.

Gripping my war hammer tightly, I follow Moy and Flak down the stairs towards the noises.
