Remember, when flaming the pudding, don't use that cheap low octane crap, it tastes much better if flamed with proper high octane race fuel. Sure all proper petrol heads have plenty at home, you should be even running the lawn mower on Elf Turbo......

Hope there was at least one motoring related present delivered.

    Best wishes to all.

Only with a new woman 3 weeks and she got me an Airfix Mk 1 Escort. I did well :-)

I have a mk 1 Golf GTI to build. I sprayed it Topaz blue (a bit sacrilege perhaps!). Will hopefully finish it in the next few days.

What kind of spray did you use. I've always found the Airfix paint impossible to get any kind of a decent finish with. It's ok for the little bits but the bodywork is always sh1te. I started building the Aston Martin DBR9 last night :) This is not my one.

I actually went and bought real car paint from halfords. So it's sprayed on from a rattle can. Came out well. Although I did not use a clear coat on top, so it's more of a matte finish, but it still looks well. I was afraid to use the clear coat as I was worried it would be far too easy to mess up.

I went into Woodies this evening and got some craft spray. Looks good so far.

Amazing! What a colour! I really haven't gotten going on mine beyond painting the body/body parts. Must get it out tomorrow and paint some of the trims.

Slightly belated Merry Christmas to ye all.

I love the post your car photo thread, so many tasty motors people have, always cheers me up when I see some of the nice machinery people have got.

I have to admire ye lads for going 'building' those model cars, takes me back to my childhood so much, I used to really enjoy doing it back in the day.

I 'built' a Mercedes 300 SL Gullwing and a Mk5 Escort Cossie amongst other cars when I was no more than 5 or 6 years old.

It used to drive my Dad completely mad, as I always roped him into helping me (and sometimes helping me meant building it for me instead :D). Then I used to 'drive' them around the house until I broke them:D.

Would love to get back into that actually and 'build' some stuff. Then again, I'd also like to learn how to fix cars (well six cylinder petrol E46s at any rate) and I don't see that happening either. I never did paintwork (they used to come with the shells painted, although there was often decals to add - and that was a right pain from what I remember) so I'd definitely have to give that a go as well:).
