Will Coutinho get a Champions League medal when we win it?

The thing I really liked about yesterdays performance is that City just could not live with us for those 80 minutes. I also think the performance should give the players renewed confidence for the Champions League- if we had of being playing Real or Barca yesterday and put in that level of performance we would have beaten them too. Of course the CL is over two legs but if we have the legs for those type of performances the top teams are going to find it very hard to live with us. I would not be shocked to see Liverpool reach a semi and after that who knows where it could lead.

Going on form, we'd eat Real alive at the moment.

We've a great chance of going deep in the CL. If we can get by Porto there'll be plenty of teams we'll fancy our chances against. Barca/PSG/Bayern would be the three I'd hope to avoid but would give any of them a game too. After that we'd have a shot against anyone and no team would be hoping to draw us either.

Think an English team will win it, would not be shocked if all 5 get through to last 8.

Not sure anyone mention it but how good were the oxs corners yesterday. Right on the 6 yard line.

His set piece delivery has been exceptional. Badly needed.

The rotation really looks to be paying off. Yes, it probably cost us a few points here and there, but overall, I think it'll gain us a good bit more than it loses.

Swansea and Huddersfield next, while United go away to Burnley and Spurs. Would like to think we are above them after these two games

Just watching MotD 2 now, and actually, i can't fault Gomez all that much for the first to be honest... when the ball was being played, he had himself directly between Sane and De Bruyne. If he'd moved more towards Sane earlier on, there'd have been a chasm open to find De Bruyne in, in a much more dangerous position. You can see Gomez look up and see both guys, before the cross is even made, and decide to stay in the position he was in, where he'd have to be beaten by the player either way even if the cross found them. Soon as it was going over his head, he got himself into position to be in front of Sane.

Now, he did get caught flat footed and Sane beat him fair and square, and Gomez could certainly have done better there, but i'm not gonna blame anyone getting beaten by one of the best left wing forwards in the game, once in the match.

He still got himself back into position to be in front of Sane just before he shot, and showed him onto the tougher angle, that no player should ever score from with any sort of half decent keeper in goal.

Utd should take the hand off anyone who offered that for him the way he has performed.

Surely he is by far the biggest waste of money in football memory - including carroll, and I dont say that lightly.

Maybe 30m would be a fair price.

not a bad performance tonight from the 30m man :D

If Chelsea sign Carroll, are Liverpool in line for a sell on fee payment ??

So weird how the perception of money has changed so much, so quickly. Ibe looked madness at 15 million, but in todays prices is a steal at that price. Happy to see him impressing now. As is so often the case, it just took time for a young player to mature and gain some consistency.

Anyway i'm not trying to have a go - He scored some great goals, I particularly like the build up and finish V West ham. Great team goal and took his finish really well!

    I doubt it :)
City just played their toughest away game this year IMO, Utd at home against a terrible team; still a 12pt gap (13pt when you factor in goal difference).
15 games to go, so they'd need to more or less lose 4 and draw 1; while Utd win out.

Swansea we should win but Huddersfield sit deep and we struggle on those games.

As for Utd, Burnley for anyone is a tough one as they are tougher than nails but I think Utd will frustrate Spurs and might take that one .

Spurs haven't lost at home to utd since fergie stepped down 2 spurs wins and 3 draws. I'd be happy with a draw in that game.

Just going back to yesterdays game... those 3 second half goals were so perfect for maximum enjoyment... each had plenty of emotional build, and then the payoff.

Firmino shouldering Stones off the ball gets you on the edge of your seat, then the touch inside, and that slow-motion dinked finish, and you hold your breath... until it bounces in off the post.

Second was the same, Salah putting pressure on, hunting down and winning the ball. Rolls it across to Mane, who kills it, and there's a pause where noone knows whats gonna happen next... and then he decides to just twat it into the top corner.

And the third... the excitement of Salah smashing what might be a great through ball, until you see Ederson coming out, and your heart drops again. But the low clearance, and Salah's incredible first touch, and shot.... and it drifts lazily into the open goal.

    Unreal. Still buzzing.

Wijnaldum did great for the 4th goal with a little scooped pass to release salah. Wijnaldum was also in and around kdb for the second goal to help dispossess him and set us on the attack. Our midfielders get way to much stick in here they have more or less dominated the opposition in 90% of games. Get a proper keeper and we would have the best Liverpool team in a long long time.

Can see why Chelsea want him, find another player who can do that with such fluency

Yeah I saw some criticism of Wij after the match alright.... thought he was brilliant for the most part. He quite visibly messed up a few attacking opportunities alright, but he snuffed out so many of their attacks, and was fantastic with quick little bits of interplay in our half to keep possession, and kickstart attacks.

    Joyce update on Can
Emre Can has insisted that he has not signed an agreement to join Juventus in the summer and that he is still talking to Liverpool about extending his stay at the club. The Germany midfielder becomes a free agent at the end of the season when his contract expires and has been courted by the Italian champions for more than a year.

Can could agree a deal now to move on July 1, but has denied such an accord is in place, offering Liverpool a glimmer of hope. Talks reached an impasse months ago because Can wanted a release clause inserted into any extension and, while he said his agent was negotiating with “everyone”, no decision has been taken. “I know you have to ask [about my contract],” Can said. “My agent is looking after everything but I am here until the summer. I haven’t signed anything [with Juventus] or anyone. I am talking with everyone.”

Can would normally be worth about £40 million in today’s transfer market, but Liverpool are unwilling to set a precedent by giving him a get-out clause, coupled with high wages, which would leave them exposed in every other negotiation they undertake.

Simon Mignolet, who has not played for Liverpool since New Year’s Day, has said that he is considering his future at the club. “I have to stay calm,” the goalkeeper said. “At the same time I have to think about my future. I am 30 years old and the World Cup is coming.”

If he gets a move there he's up there with Borini in how the f**k did he end up there territory.
Carroll scored a few nice goals down the years but I struggle to think of a top flight footballer with a worse touch & he always seems to struggle at the start of the season probably cause he's behind on fitness.
Mignolet considering his future has to be a joke?
He's lucky to be near a champions league team never mind at one

He said he's thinking about the World Cup. With a comfy pair of slippers and a new remote control for his telly he'll be sure to enjoy it.
