Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Just on the Leicester goal. If Karius wants to save it maybe just stand in between the posts. Just a bit of advice.
So he should just let Mahrez run through and tuck it away?
Keeper was probably least at fault for the goal when you consider the involvement of Mantip (twice, the pass and then not getting tight on Vardy), Can for sliding in without needing to, and Roberson losing Mahrez.

I know I shouldn't be posting this but this guy would be laughed out of the United Thread for being overly partisan!

    My bad.

We hammered them, didn't see the game but just watched it on MOTD now.
Salah could have got 7. Delighted with 2 though!

I really hope we don't have a deflating day against Burnley on Monday. They have the same rest time as us, and a smaller squad of top level players.

I expect Mignolet, TAA, Klavan, Wijnaldum, Chamberlain and probably Solanke to start.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,792 ✭✭✭✭Charlie19

They'll probably unleash Johnathon Walters on us, he's hardly played for them and hasn't scored.

Id sign that Demarai Grey young fella if he was going. Think he has a big future and is a Klopp type player.

Neither put Mahrez under much pressure or stayed on his line. When it was squared across Vardy had an open goal as Karius stood by like he was waiting for a bus.

    Bet Corwill has passed out.

One more bockle, then I'm hitting the scratcher.

Jaysis that Castles tweet is something else. You'd think he could find a more dignified way to make a few bob, like operating a launderette specialising in paedos' underpants, or something.

It says a lot about the job Dyche is doing that I wouldn't be unhappy with a draw. That said, I think we might have a better chance beating them at Turf Moor than we did at Anfield.

6 points in 48 hours would be an outstanding result.
Agree with above except for Mignolet. Give Karius another go.
So what do you guys think of Solanke so far? I know he's developing player but to me he just seems like a system player. Works hard in a system but I can't ever see him being a world beater.

He came out on Mahrez and narrowed the angle like any decent keeper would do; he did not stand by as you suggest.

If he was to have stayed on his line. Mahrez could have picked a side, or still squared to Vardy (unmarked) to pick a side). Keeper not at fault when trying to pick a culprit.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,439 ✭✭✭SM01

Neither Karius not Can were at fault for the goal. Matip was too lax with the pass and the tracking. Hopefully VVD will keep him well marshalled in future games.

Haven’t seen it back but it looked like Karius was coming, but thought Robertson might get something on it so stopped then when he didn’t he moved towards Mahrez again.

I'd play Karius too, but Mignolet will play.

Just don't see where the keeper is at fault when you see the other issues.

Wouldn’t fault him either tbh. If you’re stretching maybe he should’ve passed to Can rather than Matip.

Moreno would have been slaughtered for the first goal today

Can't slaughter players for making mistakes but when they make the same mistakes over and over it becomes frustrating.

I dunno why we try to play out so much, and Klopp has more than once questioned it too, like today '' Dunno what Matip is trying to do playing a pass there, no pass on''
So I can't blame Klopp for it, always sounds like he wants us to use common sense, 3 players were pressing us, just go long to Firmino or into midfield.

I still can't see it. Time for bed now anyway.

I just hope he doesn't go in January, that could deflate our season, plus it would make a mockery of our summer stance. If we managed to get in Lemar (for example) then maybe, but still annoying.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,956 ✭✭✭✭Osmosis Jones

If we sell Coutinho and bring in Lemar then I'd rather have had the same thing happen last summer, the only difference is now Lemar is cup tied out of the CL.

Just saw it on the French page, Done deal then :), hope we have something the in pipeline to replace as even though he is not banging in the goals his contribution is massive. Cannot see Barca needing him at the moment though. The only reason we may sell now is to get a much bigger fee.

I hope to see the day when we are in position to poach Barca's best players, the parasitic Catalan bastards. Never forgiven them for overcharging me for a jug of sangria in 1996. :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,505 ✭✭✭✭martyos121

If we do sell him in January, I hope we at least agree to hold it off until the summer, it makes no sense to sabotage our CL run for a bit of extra cash and it makes even less sense for Phil to move so close to a World Cup when he’s already one of the stars of his national team, as well as not being able to help Barca out in the CL. Best for all involved to wait until the summer but those Catalan parasites don’t like to use common sense, they want their shiny new toy on Christmas New Year’s morning or they’ll throw another tantrum.

Regarding Phills transfer, it doesn't look well from a gambling pov.

At best it looks like he'll sign a pre-contract with them and remain with Liverpool until the summer.

    https://www.oddschecker.com/football/football-specials/philippe-coutinho/club-after-january-transfer-window

I personally think the club should hold till after the World cup but they probably don't want to risk an injury or another biting fiasco;)

A January sale just doesn't make sense.

Barca well out in front in la liga and he can't play in the CL.
We need him to make sure of a top 4 finish and have a chance of going deep in the CL.

Liverpool have to hold firm until the summer.

I reckon it's one of those preemptive things Nike made back in the summer in case he signed that got put up accidentally.

It doesn't make sense for anyone for Coutinho to leave in Jan. They are cruising in Laliga and he can't play CL

I think its a hack or an employee up to no good. The link didn't work apparently.

Makes zero sense to sell him now.

Didn't someone say on here a few days ago (Dec 28th?) that that date is the Spanish equivalent of April Fools Day and not to take any transfer news etc from Spain seriously?

Plus if a deal has been agreed, no way he plays yesterday.

I'd be disgusted if they let him leave next month.

I wouldn't have a problem though if they announced the deal now if it meant he stayed with us for the rest of the season. All things considered it's probably the best scenario as it will keep him happy and let him focus on upholding his form for the rest of the season.

To be fair I think all considered he is banging in the goals. He plays behind the front 3 quite often.

He'll be at the Nou Camp by the end of the season alright. Barca in the semis. Reluctantly last up to take pen that sends them out. Imagine the awkwardness of coming back a few months later.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,891 ✭✭✭✭klose

Selling coutinho in January sucks the majority of the feel good factor out of the club, yeah mo and Bobby are mustard and I've no doubt mane will find his feet again and vvd signing is great but selling Phil puts a big dent in any feel good factor.
I am surprised fsg haven't issued any tongue in cheek comments like the time with sharez and arsenal cause barca are pretty much taking the p!ss at this stage. Adds more to the sense that he is off. For a guy whos contracted till 2022? I don't see why it seems to such a cut and dry affair that he's off and if he is it should be for neymar sums of money. Is he as good as him? No but barca are desperate for him and we hold the cards.

There is simply no acceptable reason to sell Coutinho in January.
