Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Mane was a very streaky player with Southampton, perhaps we're seeing the first real evidence of it at Liverpool. Hopefully he'll click again soon.

Burnley suck the life out of all games

Only way Burnley are scoring is through a mistake which looks quiet likely so far.

    Should have been there 36'

Mane is still confident, scored two good goals on Saturday, yea they were offside, but two good finishes.
He's still dangerous when a chance falls to him. Salah has also took his side of pitch this season.

Unlucky. First time we’ve really threatened them and managed to cut them open.

We're playing badly. Mid are all over the place, not doing it attack wise or defensively.
No point having this much possession, and still look more in danger when they can break on us.

    Burnley coming close too

Would like to see Bobby come on at half time for Solanke.
    Or even Ings.

    Regular front 3 and that’s a goal.

    Ref is whistle happy.

    Burnley pushing on here big-time

Foul throw, taking in wrong place and he gets another go, still in wrong place.
    Weak Ref

Defence sliced through there. Lucky to get away with it

    HT 0-0

Not a half to remember in fairness.

Can, Wiji, Gomez and Mane are a disgrace so far.

    Solanke isn't good enough

    Durty day there.

Ref is going to decide this for them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,497 ✭✭✭✭BorneTobyWilde

Evenly balanced. Need the Klopp effect now to be more effective in second half.

I reckon with enough games Solanke would be good.

Gomez has been ok, as he's out of position. Trent hasn't been very good. Midfield have not helped either out defensively.

So far it's shown you can't remove your three best players without a huge drop in quality. I'd get Firmino on for Solanke for the second half.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,956 ✭✭✭✭Osmosis Jones

Thought Solanke did quite well, fighting for everything and he's won a lot too.

No surprise Burnley have a great defensive record when the ref gives them a freekick every time the make a mistake.

Don't know what's gotten in to Mane, he needs to get the ball from deep and run at them, make them foul him if they want to get the ball back.

And finally, every time space opens up in front of someone they just shoot it from 30 yards, if your name's not Coutinho then stop shooting and run towards goal into the space.

Awful game of football. Headed for a 0-0 unless someone makes a defensive error or produces a bit of magic.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,213 ✭✭✭shamrock55

Poor first half, can't see where a goal will come from, take the 3 boys out and we look very ordinary

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,497 ✭✭✭✭BorneTobyWilde

McGuire should be off for Leicester, he does everything but go to ground when fouling, so gets away with everything.
Tried to remove Salahs shirt when he scored the second. He's all arms and legs.

It's ugly but sometimes ugly is ok. Hopefully we can snatch something.

Just surprised at how poor Mane is here. This is his chance to reassert himself free of the others' shadow and he's failing.

Wij, Can and Solanke not being up to it doesn't surprise me for differing reasons.

The bar is set extremely low if you think he did well, he was anonymous, he had one good chance and took a horrendous touch, still hasn't registered a goal yet, hustling and bustling around the place isn't much use to us, it's the bare minimum. He's still young but really should not be getting much game time.

Even with a full team we would be in a war of attrition with Burnley.

Grinding out a one nil win would show this team has a bit more to it than flair.

Solanke done ok coming deep and trying to nick the ball and closing down......otherwise he's been poor. I know he's just a young player but if you are starting games you need to show a hell of a lot more.

It's 45 minutes of play against the best defence in the league, I'm not saying he's incredible I just said he's done quite well, as well as any of our strikers would today anyway.

I think he looks nervy. Overthinking it, taking too many touches instead of just relying on instinct. A confident player hits that pass, not takes two heavy touches. The bar against which solanke is being judged is very high (Bobby, salah, etc.).

Solanke is young he needs to show more.

TAA & Gomez are young they will make mistakes that's ok they are learning.

He should do what Salah did - text Drogba and ask him why am I not scoring... 😉

You’d almost think we were playing Everton with the constant handball shouts.

Gomez needs to get rid of that neck beard.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,404 ✭✭✭✭Vicxas

Sean Dyche has a system where he throttles opposing teams and tries to catch them from set pieces or long balls

    There's a reason why they're 7th

Would have been a good type of game for Sturridge to nick a goal in with the 3 lads not playing.

Definitely look short on quality up top

Didn’t the ref give a free to them for the same thing in the corner?

midfield are slow to pass into the forwards which does not help the likes of Mane

Solanke, reminds me of the Paisley comment to Ian Rush when he broke into the Liverpool team, Rush thought he was doing well, working hard and creating, and Paisleys comment was something like, "that's great but we pay you to score goals son and if you're not scoring goals then you're not playing"

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,689 ✭✭✭bur

Why can't our forwards fall down every time and win frees like that?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,067 ✭✭✭✭Tusky

Anytime they do pass to him he miscontrols it and then looks like he's going to fall over.

With coutinho and Salah out why the hell does he bench firmino,it's a crazy and more then likely a costly decision
