4th in a five game table is fairly pathetic alright, you’re spot on there.

EDIT: Aw poor little fella deleted his post. How humiliating! :pac:

If an opposition player did this in front of our fans I’d hate him. Love this though. :D

Still would like to see a strong enough side out against Everton. I reckon they'll rotate a bit too.

Wouldn't play Cout or Salah. Give more game time to Lallana, Solanke and Ox, Grugic if fit.

I think Ings & Ward might start though. Would love to see Brewster and Woodburn get some game time.

Like to see something like this..

    Ward
    TAA-Matip-Klavan-Robertson
    Lallana-Milner-Ox
    Mane-Ings-Woodburn

    Solanke & Brewster on bench.

With 9 days rest before we play City I hope we go as strong as possible against Everton on Friday, FA cup run is so important. We have a big enough squad to play second string in FA cup if we get some comfortable draws, but against Everton we need to go full strength. No excuse not to play full strength in both games with such distance between them.

Mane and Salah are going to Africa for the awards Thursday it is a mark of respect that they go Klopp said.

Klopp say they will sleep on the plane back.

Yeah, with a 9 day gap to the City game, put out the strongest side you can. No need to risk anyone who is carrying something, but go out and win it.

Didn't see any image of the LFC player on the Nike advert I saw.

They used the terms "Philippe Coutinho" and "Magician" but neither are unique to or copyrighted by the LFC player afaik.

Nice to see us back to a 2ppg average. That's really the minimum we want to be seeing consistently and if we see that throughout Klopp's reign it will provide the necessary foundation to build off.

It's been a great couple of days, two gritty wins against tough sides. A great Christmas period in the end and on a general level it bookends a very positive period since the Spurs defeat.

Next two games are huge of course, and two poor results will throw us back into some negative perceptions, but that's exactly what we want the rest of the season to be: huge fixtures on a weekly basis.

Very satisfied at where we sit as of tonight though. It's going acceptably.

I think we will get enough pts this season that would have won the league in 23 of the 25 previous premier league seasons.
Crazy but that's where we are heading.

If fit he'll be there. When ever he is fit he is in team or on bench. He's never dropped, not once.
Soon as Sturridge is fit , in Klopp mind, he is named in squad

    Is he injured?

I thought is wasn't been played in case he got injured before finding a team this window.

Klopp mention he was injury, just a minor problem, that was two weeks ago.

Jesus some fans really have a hard on for Liverpool these last couple weeks, what the hell is going on

"Daniel Sturridge was ill and now (has) a little muscle thing. It's not a big deal, to be honest, but in this period all these things keep you away from games," Klopp told the club's website.

"That's not too cool for us, of course, but since yesterday not a lot (else happened)."

Could just play Klavan/Lovren up top and stick Gomez and VVD at the back.

VVD put us in spotlight world wide. He's already generating interest and money for Liverpool, that coupled with our form of late is making a lot of people take notice.

There has to be a good case in it. Nike sponsor Coutinho but there would be strict rules on how much they can use his image. They definitely can't link him to Barcelona as part of that. The deal for 2018 on with Barcelona is 155 million a year, still not enough to buy Coutinho.

Would probably have a better impact than Solanke.

It dosen't seem to be falling for him at the moment, I'd say if the game was still level around the 70 minute mark, Firmino would've replaced him and not Mane.
I'd like to see Ings get a game against Everton.

The last couple of games are something that is a bit of a rare commodity for Liverpool lately and that's gritty hard earned wins with late goals, at times it seems it was blitz or bust for klopp with Liverpool but we are seeing we are more than that as klopps reign continues.
2ppg average now and the most congested period of the season over and done with. I can't imagine we would be anymore than 6 odd points off the lead compared to other years but goes to show how ridiculous city are this year.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,305 ✭✭✭Alonso77

    4th Liverpool 22 13 6 3 51 27 +24 45pts

That was our position last season after 22 games

    Nearly identical to right now.

If we avoid the calamitous form of Jan to mid feb 17 we will do quite well

Interesting for comparison but its the 38 game table that really counts

The win rate (certainly the defeat rate) against sides outside the "top six" is much better. Obviously the win rate against the "other 5" is much worse but that was always a weird outlier in the previous two seasons and destined to end. That said plenty of opportunity to even things up a bit.

Klavan has scored more than Kane, Messi & Ronaldo combined this year.

Watched most of the game back there...pretty poor fare. Positive was Lallana's performance, forgot how good he is.

Think Solanke is getting a bit if a hard time of it, thought he worked hard and held the ball up well at times. More game time, more confidence and his performances should improve.

On the Burnley goal, very difficult to defend a flicked on header in the box. Not sure Gomez could have done a lot about it but did seem to be unaware where the Burnley player was.

Overall, great to come away from Turf Moor with 3 points. Team is showing some real mental toughness.

Agreed. Also there is a good case here for New Balance in that they pay LFC X amount to be shirt sponsor. They then recoup their investment through shirt sales which are often driven by the clubs biggest stars like Coutinho. So Nike putting up that post the other day about Coutinho could be construed as them deliberately setting out to 1) Unsettle a contracted player and 2) damage the business of their rival New Balance and by extension LFC. The fact that Nike already sponsors Coutinho and manufactures Barca shirts means they stand to make millions should he move to Barca. This would also be very relevant in any court case.

This wouldnt be the first time the Nike has gotten involved in footballing matters that they should keep their noses out of. It was widely reported back in 1998 that due to their millions in sponsorship of the Brazil team they demanded that Ronaldo play in the final even though he was clearly injured. The manager was against playing him as he wasnt fit but the Brazilian FA suffered all kind of threats of from Nike executives and Ronaldo ended up playing. He had a stinker of a game as France hockeyed Brazil 3-0, the lad could barely run but that didnt matter to Nike, they wanted their biggest star on the pitch no matter what.

How much publicity and traffic on their websites have Nike gotten from this? You can't just decide you are going to use somebody for your advertising campaign, Liverpool could use Messi to advertise their jerseys if that was the case.

Yes they could if they word it cleverly enough, just like Paddy Power use club and sports person names all the time in their adverts.

What Nike did may not be nice but it doesn't break any laws, or regulations they are bound by or any contracts they are party to. They didn't use Liverpool football clubs logo add they didn't use an image of Coutinho. They used the name Philippe Coutinho of which there is more than one and they didn't name Liverpool in any way which is why you won't see FSG, New Balance or anyone else waste money mounting a case that has no merit and no hope of success.

Sure there are other Phiippe Coutinho's out there, but how many are called a little magician and how many are linked with Barcelona? Its pretty clear who they meant going to play for Barcelona and who's shirts they were trying to sell. Either there is agreement to sell him to Barcelona already, which I would think would have leaked already seeing that Barcelona likes to use their sources in the media a lot, or this was another attempt to try and pressure the move for Barcelona. It could also just have been a mistake, but who goes through the trouble of making up a page for a player that is not for sale? I don't see other clubs shipping Sanchez shirts on their website.

I like the Barcelona team, I dislike the club and how they are going about their business. No club is clean when it comes to transfers, but the arrogance of the club is astounding.
