Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

And his first was poxy as hell if memory serves correct.

Was a huge looping deflection and he banged in another one in the same game.

I think Solanke can finish, I just think he has been unlucky in the games he has played for us that he hasnt really gotten any decent chances to show it.
I've faith that the lad will come good on the pitch.

Delighted to see van Dijk starting.

Also, Klopp being very tactical by having Klavan on the bench, ready to surprise Big Sam coming on a sub for an injury time winner if required.

Really looking forward to this now. Strong side out, hate watching weakened sides going out of the cup.

Strong side, as it should be for a derby cup game. Add in over a week till City.
Hopefully the flight to & from African awards won't hinder Mane

Not too happy about Milner starting but apart from that it's grand.

VVD bound to score an OG in the 93rd minute with the score level at nil nil despite us having 99.9% possession and 99 shots on target..

Change of topic - the "behind the scenes" with VVD on his first day was notable for one thing in particular - Lovren gave him the best greeting of any player. Most people just went for a bro-handshake as they passed, but he took off the headphones and chatted for a few seconds. He's a good guy.
Van Dijk is a nailed on starter. Klavan, Matip and Lovren are competing for a single place in the line-up.

Lovren is working his charms on Van Dijk to establish a working relationship and give himself an edge over the others in the race to become the established defensive partner.

Also happy to see Lallana back in the side. Will be a key player for us.

Loopy deflection was given as an o.g after by dubious goals committee. Lucky Crouchy didn't know and had confidence to score his second (first as it turned out). Never forget his perfect hat trick against Arsenal.

Like the look of that defence.
Probably our strongest defence in all honesty.
Only Karius you'd be a bit unsure about yet. Hopefully he can cement his place in goal in front of that back four.

Sturridge doesn't make the bench again.

I'm really surprised all the bottom half of the table teams aren't knocking on the door for him.

Thought he was rolling on captains armband at first glance.

In my opinion, Henderson offers a lot more than Can in the deeper midfield role. He's a lot more mobile and responsible in this position. Some of Can's performances have been shocking, particularly the Leicester match where he looked like he was towing a bouncy castle full of kids.

He is far too ponderous on the ball for me.

I would love to see us recruit someone for this position of the requisite ability. Could make a huge difference going forward.

N'Didi is one with potential in this position but would cost a lot.
Signing Sergej Milinkovic-Savic from Lazio would negate the need for a defensive midfielder. Himself and Keita would eat the opposition and provide the work rate to accommodate a more creative type in the midfield three.

I rate N'Didi. But I don't think he is quite ready for a top 4 club. Would leave him at Leicester for a few more years.

Doucoure at Watford is a very good player.
Lemina at Southampton isn't bad either.

No doubt VVD willl be declared a waste of money if we concede a goal or makes in error of any kind.

He should not be judged too much on tonight's performance. He's going to be a big player for us in the long term.

Defense looks so much better now, getting a top keeper in is a massive priority now.

Or a free kick. He's the most likely to take on that role when Coutinho goes.

  • Subscribers Posts: 32,855 ✭✭✭✭5starpool

£105m + 40m in appearance/trophy add ons seems to be the figure I've seen a few places on twitter for Coutinho, which are better add ons than were being discussed the last time.

I'd be very surprised if he is a Liverpool player on Feb 1st. Sadly.

There's no greater thing in football than a CB who can strike it from range.

Why have 2 centre backs on the bench? Should have young TTA on it IMHO.

Bloody hell, can already see VVD bossing the defenders and shouting at midfielders.

I really prefer Roberston at LB than Moreno. He puts more effort in and defends better.
