Meanwhile it's 13 degrees in Cork!

Lots of slush in D7. I don't think tonight is the night for snow here, but I still think it's coming this winter based on nothing other than gut feeling! This has at least been a way more interesting winter than the last few anyway.

Some huge temperature differences over very short areas - i.e Enistymon and Oranmore 0.5c and 10c respectively.

Of interest is Ennistymon, went from 4.5c to 10.2c in less than 10 minutes with a wind change from east to west.

Using a Davis there so it's pretty reliable.

Using the wundermap on that site linked above reveals a few interesting obvs.

Very weird temperature trends in some parts this evening. Upperchurch in Tipp is now reporting 12.2c after being around 5c or 6c all evening - a similar trend to Ennistymon as noted above. Meanwhile, Thurles is 5.2c and showing a slight decline. Johnstown in NW Kilkenny has dropped a degree also. At home, temperature is fluctuating too between 5c and 6c the last hour or so. Very strange to see this happening over very short distances.

Rain, sleet and snow appears to have stopped now in Dublin 16. 1.2c atm. A lot of dripping outside! Nice while it lasted.

There is a very steep temperature gradient across the country.

Glad to see some saw at least some snow fall.

Imagine if it were to freeze hard now. Place would come to a halt come Morning time.

11.2c here in Waterford City with nearly 20mm of rain recorded for the 29th. What a mad little country we have weather wise with all these variants in relative short distances

Yeah they say it’s “fantastic” to have such differences in one country.

It’s beginning to piss me off now at this stage!

    Ballybrittas 2.8c
    Durrow 6.6c
    Callan 11.3c

All similar distances apart (25 miles/40km)

Absolute manky drive from Celbridge to firhouse about an hour ago. Heavy sleet as I left that just got heavier and heavier along N4. M50 was a mess, people in middle lane doing 50-60, SUVs sticking to 120. Dropped a friend off and he slid out of the car, all surfaces in estates seemed to be like glass. Happy to get the car in the driveway unscathed and into bed.

I'd say there is a decent chance of those border counties seeing those 4 cms in the next hour or two.

Had about 1cm here in Cavan about 11pm. Nothing since, but just about freezing atm.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,913 ✭✭✭Danno

    Another drop, back to 4.8c

    Ballyragget is 7.0c

Winds still SE here in south Laois. Dropping almost calm though.

There is just 3.4 miles (5.5km) between the stations as the bird flies.

    Unreal!
