Temp has stayed around the 1.5c mark most of the evening especially after the Easterly kicked in about an hour ago. I would be expecting humidity levels to be lower but currently they stand at 91%

-6c in Gurteen at 2am. Meanwhile currently -2.1c here in West Clare. It's a cold one!

-6c reported at Gurteen and Mt Dillon at 0500.

-6c reported at Mt Dillon and Athenry at 0600.

So far, -6.4 at Gurteen is the coldest synop station. Its grass minimum is -12.

EDIT: It's still -6.3 at 7 am so it may have dropped well below -6 4 in the past hour.

Frost should come out of the ground faster today with a breeze about to develop that will both mix the air and bring in somewhat milder temperatures (eventually).

This scenario can sometimes mean black ice formation as humidity will try to keep pace. Watch out if you're driving secondary roads in all frosty areas this morning.

-1.1c in Naas this morning. Oddly only frost on my front windscreen. Pity the windscreen was frozen both outside and inside. Scraping frost from the inside made it feel like it was snowing.

Hopefully it's not the only time I see falling snow this year.

Got down to -3.8C here near Tralee and was -2.8C a short time ago. Lock and doors of the car took a bit of working to get open. Dry roads except for 1 icy bend.

Low of 1c last night even with the wind off the sea here near Arklow
The real story here was the overnight dp low of -5c
If only it was like that when a front came up
Very unusual to have such dry cold surface air coming in off the Irish Sea
Decent cold air advection going on there

Frost still on the ground despite temperature now 4.4c in a brisk sea wind and sunny

If there was decent ground frost then the dewpoint will have lowered due to deposition.

Still just subzero despite the frost.

    Currently 4.4c cloudy
    Dp -1c

No frost at bedtime last night when air temp was 2.2c dp -4 and breezy
    There is ice this morning

5C here now, hard frost last night, most of it melted now.

5c and cloudy right now- even last night it could only manage a measly 3 degrees. I have experienced one proper easterly over here(Surrey) back in 2012, the wind then cut right through me, not like this tepid affair, and we had snow on and off through February and into March. In fairness the BBC forecast never predicted a raging easterly, though. The UK Met Office were correct, as they so often are when we are chasing phantom eastleries, a short standoff before the Atlantic chases the block away. All eyes now on some potent cold zonality courtesy of the GFS. The lads in the east, who scoff at cold zonality, will have to hope the proposed strat warming later in the month works in our favour
