Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I was tempted until I saw that you need to have a full licence for 5 years. Only have mine three years

Same here, I have mine 4 years and 9 months. Despite having 6 yeas no claims bonus on my car policy. I applied, although they didn't accept my application.. I was reading on last years thread, that there was an age limit of 26. So this was scraped this year and replaced with the above!

I never realised how well paid they are  I suppose in a sense your putting your life in someone else's hands.

Ah well, their loss. We would of been fabulous :D

I believe that you should have receive an E-mail regardless.. I hadn't my B licence long enough (2 or 3 months short) and they contacted me to say that I wouldn't be considered!

  • Registered Users Posts: 445 ✭✭teggers5

He has only got the email to say they received his application. I think it's tomorrow when they start contacting people about the aptitude tests.
    Fingers crossed!!

    Same email received here .

The 2016 thread makes for very interesting reading - don't know whether there was insider knowledge behind the post re 'unless your were a tester or driving instructor previously, waste of time applying' ...

Hopefully that's not the case but nothing to lose by applying anyway.

I personally know someone who got it a couple of years ago. In the end he didn't take it as he got his salary increased and stayed in his current job. But the above is incorrect.

Good, thanks. No word yet today.

I applied for this. Got my confirmation email on the 21st December and nothing since. Spoke to CMcN last week and they said the invitations for aptitude testing are going to be sent today. Still haven't gotten one. Concerning when the window for these 2 tests is only a week. Will give them a call tomorrow and see what happens.

In the thread for the previous campaign some people said that they had been advised that their applications were not going to be progressed before the closing date so I wouldn't say it's not looking good just yet :)

No word here yet today either

Just spoke with them. Girl I spoke with said they'll be sending out the emails towards the end of the week so presumably later this evening or tomorrow.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,087 ✭✭✭tuisginideach

Thanks for that pajopearl. Out of curiosity, did she happen to mention what sort of numbers applied? I'd imagine it was in the 1000s?

I've no idea and I didn't ask either. For some reason I wouldn't think it's as many as last time. If this thread is anything to go by. Or maybe people just aren't willing to show their hand.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,087 ✭✭✭tuisginideach

As far as I remember just the 1 page and CV attached. Have you checked your spam folder? They do say (FAQs) that if you think you should have heard, but haven't, to ring them ... Did you get an initial acknowledgement when you submitted the form online?

  • Registered Users Posts: 8 De Plank

Yea, got no reply at all, checked and double checked folders and nothing. Emailed them on Wednesday and got no reply.
Can't get through on phone so left phone message today & awaiting a reply to that ........I though maybe i missed a page or something & wondered is there many more in the same boat.

Did the tests. VR was not as bad as I thought. Messed up the Ability to Concentrate test and started it before I was ready. Quit out of it ASAP. Called this morning and they were able to reset it for me. Hopefully now get the invitation to the assessment centre.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,087 ✭✭✭tuisginideach

Havn't even looked at link yet. Prob will do it 17th or morning 18th! Are the instructions pretty clear - when you say, pajopearl, that you started it before you were ready - was that just a 'personal delay' or a quirk in the task?

PS - I presume everyone who qualified in terms of having licence more than 5 years was accepted this far? Isn't there another online test - the 'technical' test pre-assessment centre arrangements?

  • Registered Users Posts: 445 ✭✭teggers5

My other half completed the tests today too. Thought they were fine.
Tuisginideach, the instructions are pretty clear and they give you a practice before both tests so you will know exactly what you have to do.

That was just a personal delay. Meant to quit out of it and clicked start instead. Thankfully, they reset the test for me this morning.:D

Done the 2 tests today found verbal reasoning tough enough only got to 20 questions before time ran out

  • Registered Users Posts: 2 BFisher81

Done the test yesterday and also found verbal reasoning difficult. Only got to question 24. Not expecting to get any further at this point.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,485 ✭✭✭Bazzy

    I only got to 24 or 25

it says at the start your not expected to answer all questions.

If you got them all correct and not complete I would say that would stand to you more !!

    Keep the faith

I think 20-25 well answered questions are far better than flying through them guessing them..

So, the next round starts today. If I'm correct in my thinking, those who successfully completed the aptitude tests will be invited to the assessment center and must have the technical test completed by then!? With a cut off point of next Thursday, the 25th!?

What's the technical test? How would you have it completed before being invited to the assessment center..
