Apparently they chased him around the courtyard... absolutely vicious!! :mad:

My question is, surely with modern technology i.e. dash cams and cctv, why aren't these criminals being sent away for longer than what seems to be 4/5 year for assault, then back out to do the same.

Beyond reasonable doubt. Wearing a balaclava and socks/gloves means that identifying the people with the slash hooks is nearly impossible.

Since people aren't randomly attacked with slash hooks the family most likely know the assailants, I wonder if they are helping the Gardai?

It may not necessarily be, but it's without doubt that the attack was targetted.

This wasn't some random attack where 3 men were wandering around with weapons and decided to pick on a kid filling up his Ma's car. That doesn't happen.

The weapons which were used and the fact that grown men attacked a child, strongly points to it being a traveller feud.

Settled scumbags don't go for slash hooks and usually resort to just giving young scrotes a hiding, not tracking them down and attacking them with slash hooks.
