I have both vodafone and Three dongle which we've stopped our contracts for both. Can I put a spare phone SIM card into either of these dongles, top up and use as mobile broadband for using with Sky and XBox as we are currently using our phones are hotspots and just afraid of maxing out our limit. don't want any unnecessary surprises. Or do I need to have a broadband SIM if that makes sense. Thanks for any advise in advance.

If your normal phone SIM is three, and PAYG, u should be good for unlimited data either way, dongle or hotspot. Hotspot would run down your battery faster.
Otherwise a new 3 SIM and €20 for 28 days in the 3 dongle. Your dongles are prob network locked.
