Anyone got any good recommendations for accom for a weekend in London for a game? I'm fine with AirBnB or hotel etc. Just need a room with 2 beds in it for the 2 of us heading over! Preferably somewhere close to a tube line for easy access to the city and Wembley

The Bayswater area is close to the city centre, is a nice area, near a tube line and right on Hyde Park. I stayed there 2 years back. Plenty of affordable hotels there.

Many going over for the Seahawks & Raiders game? Myself & 2 mates heading over on the Saturday morning. The Green Man is good craic after the match generally.

Also, anyone got their tickets yet? Surely we'll get them within the next week?

Also, thank god the game isn't on in Tottenham anymore. It would have been a nightmare trying to secure tickets.

Heading over with a mate myself.

    2 tickets = e70 each
Return flights to Gatwick Sat-Mon = e50 each
2 nights in an IBIS = e160 each (he booked this, bit of a rip)

Staying near Shoreditch though, not sure what the trek to Wembley is like for there. There's a cracking Nike outlet right beside the stadium too. I got two pairs of runners two years ago there, £25 a pair!

I bought a hotel/ticket combo through Thomas Cook and the match tickets arrived in my email yesterday. Flying over Sunday morning for a couple of days.

Nice. Heading over on the Saturday morning myself, home Monday evening. Gonna get the Gatwick express out to Hyde Park which is the area where I'm staying. Should be good! Tickets were 70e each as well.

160 isn't too bad for London!

Yeah I've got mine. They arrived on Monday just gone. I got them through DHL so was able to track them. Fear not though, there's always a delay with tickets as they send them out in batches. If you don't have them by this wendesday then there's no harm in contacting ticketmaster.

With a 1.30 kick off, what sort of time would I be safe enough making plans to do something else at?

No sign of my tickets yet (2 original Wembley games) . Hopefully they'll arrive this week.

Maybe check the tickets you received are valid, in case they don't scan on the day.

Is the green man the best spot for after the game and letting the crowds die down. I'm staying around Euston , I presume wembley stadium sation would be best to head for after that?

I had a great time at the Seahawks game, only let down was the tailgate area which was very poor. Just a warning to people that may be thinking of going to the merch store we arrived just after 2pm and there was the biggest Q I have ever seen just to get in.........didn't get near it.

Feck. Was hoping to pick up a few bits. Wonder are the sports shops in London better stocked for the weekdns that are in it?

    Hey gang,

Heading over to Chargers Titans game this weekend. Flying from Cork to Stansted on the morning flight on Sunday.

Any other bodies flying over that way? Could look at going in together and getting a taxi out to Wembley an split costs.

Let me know if appeals to anybody.

Taxi to/from stansted will be insane.

Get Stansted express to liverpool street, then its 30 mins on the tube to wembley from there

Booked into hotel so have to drop bag there first with change of clothes for the next day so heading to Wembley Central station for that.

Judging by getting Stansted Express and underground it's going to take a good two hours to make it.

yeah, have done that trip before, 2 hours is reasonable assuming no tube delays

Does anyone know if the store does be open the day before the games? I'm heading over on the 26th for the eagles game so if it was open on the Saturday it might be work a visit if there's no crowds.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 691 ✭✭✭gerryfed

Queues were absolutely insane alright. There was a bunch of police officers there too who seemed to be holding it all up, maybe safety concerns. Would recommend doing that click and collect option if possible, that was a different unit with virtually no queue I think

Got my DHL txt and email for Eagles v Jags ticket delivery tomorrow ðŸ˜

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 160 ✭✭aj89

I was over on Sunday and can't really fault anything. Queued at the merch stand from 1:10, got in after about 50mins so wasn't too bad! Bar queues weren't that long at all!

Also bumped into Rob Ryan as he was making his way across to the stage.... He said he didn't have time to stop for a picture though. :(

Received email just there from Ticketmaster stating that they couldnt get my tickets out to me in time, so they have emailed them to me. Email received and tickets printed, cept for the fact i paid £13.50 for courier delivery

Reached out to them for refund but is bit strange they cant get the tickets out on time when they were bought over 5 months ago.........

    Two part question .
Is the tailgate worth going to? Is the atmosphere/entertainment worth the higher prices you'll pay. Not overly price sensitive but if it's bad chipper food at extortionate prices and meh atmosphere, maybe best avoid?

If you think it's a good experience, what time would be plenty to get there for the 2.30 chargers/titans game?

Definitely worth going to! Decent enough q&a with Neil Reynolds. Mind you Darren Fletcher was there last weekend and was quite annoying. Standard festival food stalls, but there is a Subway stall. I was there for about 5hrs and just had pints. I'd get there at pretty much opening time!

It opens at 9.30 a.m. next question and it's my last on topic, if you had to meet someone with tickets could you meet them between tailgate and stadium or is it once in tailgate no going back?

I would get there as early as possible, bump in random people to have a good laugh with. We got stopped on Wembley way for tickets, and then your tickets get checked again at the tailgate entrance... Tailgate is just off Wembley way, so you you won't get near it without a ticket. The best place to meet some is at the exit/entrance of Wembley Park station!

Was there yesterday and wow the surrounding area around wembley is getting so developed a couple of years ago it was scrubland and now apartments everywhere. The weather was brilliant nearly T-Shirt weather

There are now the normal shops (Co-op, Sainsburys express) right at Wembley you can buy a cans of beer there for £2.50 and drink outside instead of the £6.20 for the 300ml plastic bottle of warm Budweiser. So that was a nice warm up before the game and plenty of people to talk to.

I didn't bother with the tailgate, I've seen them before and not really something I'd rush back to but if it's your first time there it's worth a look.

The queues for the toilets for men were a disaster expect to be waiting 10 minutes at halftime, same for the draft beer queue, I was there for 10 minutes and walked away and I didn't buy anything inside Wembley and expect to get ripped off if you go there, £8 plain burger, Chips and chicken tenders £9 etc... I did buy a program as a souvenir very well put together.

Security is tight but most of the guys there seemed sound

I thought the atmosphere inside the stadium was better than most games and they tried to keep it interesting with the breaks. There was a lot of US charger fans there which I thought was good.

Getting to the Tube after the match was the usually hour plus in the queue so decided to go the the Green Man for a pint, and it's still the usual dump I remembered but there was a good atmosphere there.

Overall a very enjoyable day and the game was good too, some great plays by Rivers and I was looking forward to overtime, still don't know what the Titans were thinking.

flight from dublin was delayed so ended up just getting to the game at kick off.

Titans unsurprisingly inept on offense, mariota put together a good drive to tie it up, but not surprised Vrabel went for it twice.

    Tiring day trip though

I think that was among the worst 2-pt conversion calls I've ever seen. They needed one point to not lose the game.At least threaten the run bring on another RB. Or put Mariota on a bootleg so they have to worry about him running it.

The lineup was all wrong so to me it looks like it was a spur of the moment call

But instead they run an empty backfield and have Mariota stand flat footed? I still think it was a cazy call

yeah agree, consenus was it was good to go for it, but awful play calling

Was there myself as well and I thought it was very good. I stayed at a hotel just beside the stadium for the previous 2 nights and there was 3 bus loads of Titans fans all from the States brought there Sat evening. There was definitely more Chargers fans though and it contributed a lot to a good atmosphere. The weather was definitely very helpful in that regard also!

The match program was 10 pound but it's very good. A nice souvenir as said above. Food was expensive but nice. Toilet queues weren't bad in club section.

Getting to the tube after was a feckin disaster though. I didn't think it'd be much worse than Croker but jaysis I was wrong. At 4 points along Wembley way (or whatever the road to the tube is called) you're stopped by a line of security guards - you and thousands of others so you're just standing in a massive flock of people unable to move in any direction.
When we eventually got to Paddington then we realised the train to Heathrow is the same price as an Uber so it was all a waste of time! I'll know for again though.

Last but least I'm happy with how the game went. Don't have any love for either team really so for it to come down to a 2 pointer with 30 odd seconds left was a bonus.
