So there's a vote tomorrow and players will be going on strike it more or less.

Yup and better to strike now than wait another month like Bray players before going balloting for strike. Should make Friday's live game against Pats even more interesting.

Andrew Cunneen tweeted after the Derry game that when the club met the players after the first non-payment, they were given dates until the end of the season, on which they would be paid. The first of those was the Friday they travelled to Derry, and passed without them being paid.

It sounds like they still have not been paid, 10 days later.

    They should strike, tbh.

Was coming a mile away. Only reason they could afford to pay the players for the month of May was because of money they received from a local company. Imagine how that company feels when they met the club one week looking to sponsor the club and then days later the club come out saying it has no money to pay players.

Reports that the FAI have met with the club and the players will be paid tomorrow. Limerick have been barred from signing any players for the rest of the season.

Players should still strike imo, or demand their releases when monies owed are paid. They went through this **** two months in a row so whose to say next month isn't gonna be the exact same.

I guess every month will be the same. A scramble to get the money together.

Nightmare for the players, they must be praying for another club to come looking for them.

That is if monies owed are paid tomorrow, their agreement with Bray didn't quite work out so well today.

Limerick players voted to go on strike today. That needs 7 days' notice so the game away to St Pats will go ahead, but next week's match at home to Waterford is now in doubt.

    Hard to blame them really.

The issue here is whether the current ownership is now blocking/rejecting a takeover by somebody who could steady the ship (in which case a strike could be effective), or whether there simply is not money anywhere to pay them.

Such a shame. Was a great buzz about the club 2 or 3 years ago especially when they were playing in Thomand.

    St. Pat's 2-1 Limerick

    (Dennehy pen)

Fairly sickening defeat in Dublin tonight.

We were easily the better team in the first half, looking dangerous in attack. We had already missed some decent chances before we took the lead. Barry Maguire was flattened in the area as he got his shot away from a quick corner, andDennehy scored from the spot.

St. pat's came back into it a bit late in the first half but we were well worth our lead.

The halftime introduction of Conan Byrne for Pat's changed the game. We were under pressure for most of the half, and Tommy Holland had to make a couple of superb saves, but we also missed chances to hit them on the counter.

They equalised with a penalty after a soft tug in the box, and scored again with a header soon after.

In the last few minutes we were camped in their half, and came close a couple of times.

And right at the end, after an almighty scramble, Will Fitzgerald bundled the ball over the line but it was ruled out for offside.

Next game: home to Waterford, Friday July 27th, 7.45pm.

As the players have voted to strike over the unpaid/delayed wages, it's not clear if that game will go ahead as scheduled.

My understanding from the players statement that was released was that they'll be playing the game against Waterford but wages for July are owed the week after that game and will strike if (or when) they aren't paid.

    Limerick 2-1 Waterford

    (Dennehy penalty, Duggan)

Terrible beginning, great ending, in Limerick tonight.

We got off to the worst possible start, when a Waterford player dispossessed Brouder and got in on goal, and even though he managed to get his shot away, the ref adjudged that Wearen had been pulling him back and gave a penalty and a red card...all after about 2 minutes. Happily, Tommy Holland managed to push the penalty around the post.

Waterford missed another great chance soon after, when their striker fell over on the wet surface with the goal at his mercy, but we managed to play ourselves back into the game after that.

And we were rewarded with a penalty of our own after about 30 minutes. Will Fitzgerald wriggled by a couple of players before going down, and Dennehy slotted home the penalty. Waterford got a straight red card for a lunge just before halftime (EDIT: being reported as a second yellow, must have missed that), leveling up the numbers.

But our tendency to concede soon either side of halftime continued. Just a minute into the second half, we lost the ball in midfield and former Limerick player Bastien Hery advanced on goal. The strikers made great runs to drag the Limerick defenders away, and he was able to go through and smash the ball past Holland.

The next 20 minutes were mostly Waterford, and they came close a few times, especially in the air from frees and corners. But we weathered the storm, and took the lead with about 8 minutes to go. A corner was cleared, but captain Duggan collected it and lashed an absolute screamer past the keeper from about 30 yards.

Waterford pressed, and were livid when a Tommy Holland parry in injury time was ruled not to have crossed the line (a Limerick fan with a good view of it said it definitely looked over) and we held on for the 3 points.

Next game: away to Bohemians, Friday August 3rd, 7.45pm.

Before the season started I remember a tweet pointing out the huge Cork City influence in the squad and talking to a lad today who was at the game it was great to hear when he talked about the squad it was lads like Brouder, Fitzgerald, O'Sullivan, Holland and Duggan he was talking about. Even though it's more down to tightening the purse strings it's great to see the local and home grown players in the squad.

If we can hold on to those lads (at least, not have them go to other LOI clubs), they are the bones of a good team for a good few years.

Duggan is already established obviously, but the other 4, while already looking good , will still get a lot better with experience.

Fitzgerald is in uni, not sure about Brouder and O'Sullivan only done his leaving cert so possibly could be going to uni so those lads will be around for a few more years. Think with cut backs it's even more important to develop a link with the business community in Limerick and not even to try and gain sponsorship but to maybe gain employment for players. You ain't gonna become a millionaire playing just in the LOI and unless you're constantly a top 3 club then full time isn't an option so your next best option is part time and helping players secure employment. Remember Brendan Clarke talking in an interview and saying how hard it is to get a mortage or loan because playing LOI isn't seen as a proper job because of the contracts. Think if Limerick is to build a solid squad from next season on when funds are low to need to look at trying to convince experienced players to maybe come here with a steady income from employment with expenses paid rather than €500 a week from the club if they have the money and supplement the rest of the squad as is from the academy.

The academy is probably the best thing to happen to the club as it now allows them to bring in the best players from the mid west at a young age, players like Holland from Ardcrony or O'Sullivan from Glin which is as good as in Kerry. And with the 19s and 15s doing so well this season it's a pity the academy numbers have been slashed big time with schoolboy teams being cut and national league teams just remaining.

Lads, Gary Shanahan: have Limerick ever tried him?

Wouldn’t be surprised if he leaves during the off-season if Galway go all-in on getting promoted with the Saudi money.

He has trained in a few pre-seasons but was never signed.

Jesus is that Bastien Hery wearing a "fanny pack" under his shorts in the screenshot? What does he do, comb his hair and fix his lipstick every time the whistle blows?

Easily the best player in the league imo

    Bohemians 5-0 Limerick

Truly atrocious performance in Dublin tonight.

For the first 15 minutes we were actually the better team, looked lively down both wings and created a few moments of danger. But that faded, and after that it was just ugly stuff.

Bohs took the lead when one player headed across goal for another to glance in from very close range, and made it 2-0 before halftime when a ball across the 18-yard line from the left found a Bohs player in acres of space, and he had all day to shoot home from the edge of the area.

They made it 3 midway through the second half with a super shot from about 25 yards, forced home another after a serious scramble, and added a penalty late on after substitute Colman Kennedy (never heard of him before tonight) got a straight red for tugging back a Bohs player who would have beaten Holland to a ball over the top.

Our paper-thin squad was stretched too much by the suspension of Wearen, as Coleman had to play at centrehalf, which was bad enough, but we missed him in midfield too, we were totally overrun. I am not sure we forced their keeper into any kind of dive or save or anything for the entire second half.

Losing is one thing, but this was really horrible to watch. No leadership, no organisation, and the players just gave up well before the end. Really alarming stuff, because with Sligo also winning, our chances of avoiding a playoff are fading.

Next game: away to Cockhill Celtic in the FAI Cup, Sunday August 12th, 3pm.

Next league game: home to Sligo, Friday August 17th, 7.45pm.

With the back four that was named it was coming. Kells is finished as a premier division full back and imo he wouldn't have signed this season if the club wasn't strapped for cash and could have afford a different RB, Coleman is up there for player of the year and he's not a CB especially when his partner on the night is Brouder.

Kennedy came up through Corks underage but got a scholarship for uni in America so he's been over there for the last four years. Played in Corks friendly matches during the summer but given their options at defence was never gonna sign with them.

FAI Cup 1st round: Cockhill Celtic 0-2 Limerick

    (Brouder, Maguire)

I wasn't at this but I know some hardy souls did make the long long early-morning journey to Donegal.

And they were rewarded with a win. There weren't even any online updates to follow, so all I know is that it was 0-0 at halftime, but a long range shot from Killian Brouder put Limerick ahead early in the second half, and Barry Maguire made sure of things with a second goal 15 minutes from time.

Nice to get the win, and hopefully a home draw next, against a big team that will generate a bit of cash for us.

And more importantly, hopefully no injuries for next weekend's game, which is our last chance to avoid a playoff.

Next game: Home to Sligo, Friday August 17th, 7.45pm.

Best bet to generate a bit of cash is an away game. Saves you paying nearly 3k to use the Market field and you get half the gate anyway.

Actually that's true. Away to Cork or Dundalk then.
