Bohs win at home to Rovers and Bray draw away to Dundalk, could've done without those two results.

Bohs result means nowt, they'll be safe as they are ahead of Sligo, Bray & Limerick IMO... Relegation will be between those 3

Means something when you've gotta play them next week. Not so good result tomorrow for Limerick and you're looking at a very tough game against a Bohs team who'll be well up for it after a win against their biggest rivals.

With a Kerry lad even bagging the winner. Good start indeed away to a team we'll be battling against to avoid relegation.

    Sligo 0-1 Limerick

    (Darren Dennehy)

Super start to the season for Limerick with a composed performance against a limited Sligo team.

The first half was realatively even, with both defences comfortable. Limerick were limited to speculative crosses and a couple of shots from distance, while the best Sligo managed was a shot from a cutback that went just outside Clarke's right-hand post.

In the second half it continued to be pretty even, with Sligo creating marginally better chances. But on the hour we took the lead. A corner found its way back out to the wing, where Duggan swung in a beautiful cross from the right, and Darren Dennehy arrived to glance a header past the keeper.

Sligo pressed but didn't create anything clear cut, and we missed a number of late chances to finish it off, the best of which was a one-on-one missed by substitute William Fitzgerald.

But it didn't matter, as we held on without too much fuss for the three points.

Next game: home to Bohemians, Saturday February 24th, 6.30pm.

Was it not Duggan that crossed in the ball for the goal?

I thought it was Billy, might be wrong though.

Just going by the club's Twitter account there and they said Duggan, also a chance they could be wrong also haha.

Also from listening to Mike Aherne and co before the match and apprantly Freddy Hall has asked to leave the club.

Shame Tommy Holland has left because he would have slotted in nicely if that is the case.

Yeah not even sure who the 19s keeper is this year either. Last season was Tommy and Carl Williams but obviously Tommy was over age this year and joined Carew, Williams was under age again this season but he's joined UCD apparently.

If he's still with the academy then Cory McManus could be the 19s keeper but he's still only 17 I think so pretty young to be back up first team keeper. Hopefully the club can convince Freddy to remain around until the summer.

Why does Freddie want to leave? He had all off season to go, why decid3 now ?

Might want to return home to his wife and baby, doubt it's lack of first team football cause he wouldn't have signed a new 2 and half year contract last summer when he knew he was second choice so didn't mind being back up in sense or could be because the club is somewhat of a shambles off the pitch with no goal keeping coach with himself and Clarke having to train each other in pre season.

Went out to one training season and the keepers would have been better off staying at home as they done more laying around and goofing around.

I wonder if something came up suddenly. The things mentioned above are possible, but why would he leave it until the new season has just started.

Perhaps a goalkeeping position just became available somewhere else?

On last night, I thought we had some good performances. Billy Dennehy was good, especially in the first half. Thought Kearns held onto the ball well, although his final ball wasn't the best. Coleman did a good job of protecting the back four.

Sligo looked fairly limited though, and played to our strengths by knocking it long towards Whitehead and Dennehy.

Lads Ian there anyway of purchasing a couple tickets for Saturday night online? Can’t seem to find anything, won’t get into town the weekend & just a bit worried being the first home game of the year after Saturdays result, it might get a bit busy match day!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,670 ✭✭✭✭osarusan

Buying terrace tickets will be absolutely fine on the day, no worries whatsoever.

Stand tickets are the ones to worry about, but even then I think it should be fine.

Yeah, the failure to have matchday tickets available online (season tickets only as far as I can see) is frustrating, and fairly amateur actually, especially considering the match poster advertises a 'special online price' for tickets.

So they announce that they'll charge you extra for certain games if you don't buy them online but also don't give you an option to buy your ticket online either?

Also Gleeson Sports are apparently selling some of the Limerick gear in their shop, maybe they might have tickets also.

Eventmaster have tickets, but you need to enter a code to access the tickets or special deal or whatever, but how do you get the code?

Need a code just to buy the ticket, special deal I think is getting them cheaper for some games instead of being charged full price on the night or getting them at the normal price instead of being charged extra on the night for your ticket.

Seems the official supporters club has disbanded.
Message for all Limerick FC Official Supporters Club members:
Unfortunately we did not receive enough volunteers to form a new committee this year. It is with regret that the OSC will disband with immediate effect. Last year we had 286 members and had a very successful year, but due to work and family commitments the 2017 committee have had to step down. We would like to thank all past members for being part of the OSC and hope we have created a platform for future support of Limerick FC.

So a 17 year backup is it for Limerick as it stands?

Reckon it'd be worth sending them a copy of my CV? :pac: I just need a new pair of gloves and I'm ready to play.

Tommy Holland is signing back to cover Clarke, so 19 year old going on 20.

Thought he signed for Balla or Carew Park?

Young Willie Fitz would wanna work on his weaker foot. Was raging he didn't score, possibly the best young player to come through the academy so far.
