    In your opinion.
In my opinion the last couple of weeks were summer weather.

I understand completely that people for different reasons need rain. That does not mean it is seasonable to expect weeks of rain in July.

The weather will do what it wants anyway but I'm hoping for more nice weather interspersed with some rain to help those suffering hardship on farms etc.

A matter of fact not opinion. There are no standard dry seasons. We get what we get in this temperate climate.

Back to a mostly cloudless sky and sun here, after yesterdays muck, this is more like it

Nice sunny morning here in kildare temps around 16c , glad to see the sun again after yesterday but I hate this uncertainty of showers because you never know what to wear. Last few weeks no jacket required. Now it’s back to bringing a bag with Coats and extra lawyers if heading off with the kids... this I would consider typical Irish summer, of late anyway.

And I'm with km79 that "normal" is what we've had for the past few weeks and what we used to have in the very distant past.

    By what measure?

And what do you mean by "very distant past"? You mean, like when the dinosaurs were around?

As far as I can see the data shows that this summer has been radically above average (aka. "normal") in terms of both daily max temps and rainfall accumulations compared to the Long Term Average:

Great news, I know it's only been 2 days with rain but I'm already sick of it. Wish it would piss off back in to the Atlantic till August and give us Costa Del Ireland back! :D

This summer's weather so far is far from normal. The driest so far in decades, with max temps, not only in terms of peaks, but in terms of duration, proving to be an outlier amongst outliers.

Clouded over a bit since this morning but the sun is still shining through a lot of the time and it feels warm to, with not a bad forecast for week ahead and the weekend looks very promising according to ME

Just saw the BBC forecast, the promise of rain later this week has evaporated (sorry for the pun) as it heads towards NW Scotland instead of across Ireland.Temps to pick up again from about Thursday.

What temperatures are we looking at for Leinster next Saturday and Sunday?

possibly the low to mid 20s. Wind direction would be key to how warm it gets in Leinster.

yeah met eireann said 27c this morning but now mid twenties

id say 24c in dublin and southeast and 18 to 21c for rest of us with drizzle or light showers in North and west all the rest of the days of July

looking very warm into next Monday and Tuesday as well. Hint's towards generally staying warm for the rest of the month, but Ireland will always be more prone to cool interruptions compared to the majority of the UK mainland. We could see several warm or very warm spells before this summer is over.

CFSv2 has also majorly upgraded on the heat for the end of July, week 2 (23 to 29 July) is particularly hot on the model. Notice the below average heights yet again (how many times have we seen that this season?) over the Mediterranean.

briefly hit 20C here earlier in sunshine, fully cloudy again at 19C and looks like we could catch a light shower soon.

The grass is already slightly greener after yesterdays wet conditions.

    Cleared up nicely now
Dry bright breezy around 19 degrees
    Pleasant enough

It's mostly cloudy now and the temperature's fallen back to 18.3C now after reaching a high of 21.1C earlier when it was sunnier.

I noticed the grass too. That scorched/barren look has gone after the showers we got yesterday.

Reek Sunday this year is Sunday, July 29th. That will make for appallingly hot conditions for the Pilgrimage.

Still looks as scorched and brown here as ever after the few mm of rain yesterday. There were reports of a few drops of rain here just now but I didn't see anything. It's mostly cloudy here and feels cool at 18.1C.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,685 ✭✭✭Mobhi1

    Sun's shining now. 18.5C.

Grass generally takes 1-2 weeks to recover and show green from the first rain.
