Pleasant enough day in North Dublin but disappointing amount of cloud all day. Forecast had said east and southeast was to get the best of the sunny spells but looking at satellite it looks like the south and south west and a strip up the centre of the country got some nice sunshine.

yeah, twas stunning here from about 11am onwards. not a cloud in the sky stuff....

Looks like Cork is hogging all the sunshine on us.

Mild and overcast here with a pleasent breeze not bad at all really. Sligo.

Two of the top years in my analogues for Summer 2018, 1989 and 1996 have Augusts that I expect August 2018 to be similar to - at least for Ireland. The reanalysis shows a deep trough to the northwest of Ireland showing relatively mild but wet conditions. I expect the high pressure to be closer to the UK than the reanalysis shows of these Augusts combined. However for Ireland, August is looking similar to those years (though still uncertain as the month remains a mystery that even Sherlock Holmes couldn't figure out). August 1989 was unsettled, dull and average temperature wise. August 1996 was very wet and fairly mild.

Met E have underestimated the heat this evening. It's a balmy 19C here in Cork with high humidity. Difficult to sleep in

The CFS charts seem to back that analysis. The lows stall close to Ireland, so wet enough at times, but further east and south these lows could act as a heat pump. It might not be dry heat though, it could end up showery and humid.

I would prefer the Atlantic to win outright in that latter scenario.

Was a great evening in cork . Had a BBQ and stayed out the back till just now without any need for jackets and all the stuff. Lovely!

A misty, moisty utterly still and silent morning here. No mountains, no ocean, cats drifting in wet.

    Restful and peaceful

    West Mayo; offshore island

20.9C here in Tralee after getting up to 21.8C. Cloudy and humid. Only got down to 16.3C last night making it very stuffy. Bit of a welcome breeze now from the W. The gardening awaits!

very cloudy here, doesn't look like it's going brighten up any time soon either. At least it's feeling pleasantly warm at 19C. If we could get some sun in the afternoon then today could turn out to be very warm.

Another warm day in Cork, clouding over a bit after a very sunny morning. 23c on the 11am reports.

Cloudy and 20.9C. The overnight low was only 16.1C. According to the satellite picture there's a clearer band moving up along the east coast so we might get some sunshine this afternoon.

Isn't it just. Very tropical feel today and not even a breeze. Sweating buckets. Love it!

It feels pretty horrible in Dublin 7 today. I'm not sure why, the apps say the relative humidity and dew point aren't particularly high, but the air is like a gross, hot soup.

Tempted to go to Tesco just to stand in the fridges.
