A low of 18.4c at 06:59 after a shower! That is the warmest night I remember for a while. My forecast of 28c was 0.1c out yesterday, must try harder :D

Very warm night ...humidity was up around 75 and temp didn’t drop below 19c .
Heavens just opened here , still 19-20c even in the rain.

It has been raining for most of the morning in Castlebar, 16.3C and 94% humidity currently.

It really is the oddest weather, took kids to play ground got soaked in a huge downpour which lasted about 15 minutes. Not a big deal as it was still 20c so wasn’t cold and kids taught it was great fun.
Rain stopped very abruptly followed by a short period of warm sunshine and within 5 minutes you wouldn’t even have known it had rained. No puddles,no wet grass nothing.. it’s like the showers of rain you might get in Spain on holiday.
The country is going to need a hell of a lot of rain to make any impact on ground conditions.

Raining most of the morning in Bray. Seem to be under a bit of a South Westerly rain streamer so to speak. Much needed so I'm not complaining.

warm and sunny morning here at Dunshaughlin, currently 20C.

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators Posts: 16,905 Mod ✭✭✭✭Gonzo

yesterday was almost the hottest day of the year at Dunshaughlin, temperatures yesterday reached 28C here which is only the 2nd day this summer to reach this temperature. The last day we reached 28C was Wednesday 27th June which was just slightly hotter as it reached close to 29C that day.

Another very warm day today, temperature getting close to 23C.

Some nice convection visible up towards you at the moment.

Warm with plenty of sunshine here, evident that the jet stream is overhead with fast moving clouds for the time of year

It's just got sunny here again in Glasnevin after being cloudy for most of the morning. It's now 21.5C.

Feeling hot/sticky in Dublin 16. Just reached 26.0c.

Must be a bit of fohn effect here with SSW breeze. Seems to be considerably warmer here than the rest of Dublin?

Dewpoint at Dublin Airport is up to 18.8 °C, and 18.7 at Casement. We only get dp this high a couple of times a year. Not good potato weather (blight).

not sure what the temperature is here in Dublin city centre but feels very warm again. Yesterday was so warm, sat out the garden until 11pm last night in t shirt and shorts and it was so balmy. This afternoon is very warm again, is there any end in sight to the warm dry weather??
I remember the summer of 1995 very well and thought it might never be beaten but this is right up there. What has been really striking about this summer too is how warm the evenings have been. Normally in Ireland even in hot weather the evenings cool down a lot but that hasn't felt like the case this year. the garden is like a rock, crying out for rain but any shower seems to dissipate so quickly and within an hour the ground is bone dry again

    27.0c now in Dublin 16.

Just went to 25c here in South Laois. Another humid day. The three days of 31c in June didn't feel as stuffy.

met eireann readings showing 26 degrees already at phoenix park. That answers my previous question. wonder how high it will go today, the forecasts by met eireann seem to be underplaying the temps over the past couple of days. It feels like the temps are going higher than expected

Any of the weather experts out there know why the conditions in Dublin feel so much more "humid" than they actually are? Look at the Relative Humidity, all 3 Dublin stations are basically around 61% RH, which I guess means the DP is around 16C?

And yet, it feels so wet and sticky in the air. Is our understanding of what humidity feels like just not correct? Or is there some other measurable factor that determines this?

Or, alternatively, is it just because the 3 weather stations aren't subject to the urban heat island effect, and that is making the city feel so much hotter?

Yes and what about Tokyo? 41.1c there and deaths as a result. Just unbearable conditions.

the past two days definitely warmer than expected. The heat that's building over the UK we've just gotten the edge of it causing mid to high 20's yesterday and today.

Slightly cooler over next few days but temperatures in the low 20s till Thursday/Friday before the Atlantic makes a serious effort at breaking through.
