I have box on Tuner A but I have it as advanced and using LNB 1. cBEEBIES is only on during the day so will give a black screen but it will show a signal in finder.

Yes you can pick up vertical and not horizontal and vice versa if dish or lnb has moved or a bad cable connection or lnb needs skew adjusted. And box can go wonky so I do a hard reset ie power off at back.

Thanks ya I done hard reset .
I have an old bog standard box which should tell me if it's the lnb/dish at fault.

We had savage wind few days ago so maybe it's that.

Checking there now in signal finder - all my Horizontal frequency's have 0% signal. Vertical frequencies are all fine .

If it was that bad its a good possibility as things get moved, surprised more posts are not saying that but can depend in location, would think your more exposed up there than dublin.

I've had the box now for a few weeks and have to day it's fantastic.

still on HH image, 500gb SATA installed

My ebay wifi dongle (ralink rt5370 chipset) arrived but for whatever reason the box doesn't detect it. Have the 3070 (5370) plugin installed and removed the 2800 one but still the same.
Tried all the rear USB ports

Just wondering if I need to be on a standard OpenATV image to install it?

If so, can I backup all the current settings / bouquets / epg etc, flash a standard ATV image & then restore the backed up settings?

Different drivers are required, depending on the chipset in the dongle. I doubt if any of them are on a standard image, but I’m not certain. If you can connect your box to the internet using a fixed connection, you can download the correct driver from: Menu-setup-SoftwareManagement-advancedOptions-PackageManagement. All the available drivers are listed in the section enigma2-plugins....

It is always good practice to back up your settings, just in case...

    Thanks for the reply.
Decided to try the adapter in 2 different windows PCs & none of them are even detecting it. Not showing in device manager, even as an unknown device.
It looks like the adapter is D-O-A 😣

Have a second coming that I ordered as a spare so will wait for that.
The power line adapter currently installed is for an android box upstairs that I want to use to stream from the alpha using an app like dreamplayer

The WiFi dongle I got from WoS does not give a stable connection for streaming, you’re far better off with the power line adapter. The dongle works fine for non-streaming tasks, such as software updates or getting info from the IMDB. From looking at enigma2 dedicated sites, this appears to be a known issue.

(I had the misfortune to wire the under stairs socket spur using 13 amp flex, as the run was difficult. I’m now in the process of replacing it with standard 2.5mm twin and earth, so that I can use the powerline adapters.)

Have newclaremans image before last loaded. It's chewing through hard disk space despite deleting all timers and shortening live TV rewind settings.
    Any ideas?
Else I'll load the latest image.
Best way of restoring channel settings after that I made?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,420 ✭✭✭✭sligojoek

Bit of a problem lads. Flashed with new image last night and all went well. However the OH didn't like it as she's got used to the way it was. I took a backup of my image yesterday and am now trying to flash with it instead. All seemed to be OK but now it's stopped at "F-rootfs" for the last half hour.
Where do I go from here?

The issue is that live TV is being recorded, and never deleted. It's fixed in the latest image. I'm away at the moment, so can't give the exact instructions to fix the previous image. From memory: go into the configure recordings menu
and turn off autorecord. Then change the path of all recordings to "recordedtvprograms".

Cheers, figured out about the autorecord when I ftp'd into the box. Will hold off on the reflash for now.

Possible to reflash direct from the HDD?

Hi all, I've bought this box and flashed the above image and put picons on usb and they show up on the epg and everywhere they should but when you press ok and bring up the screen with the box at the bottom over the channel that says what's in now and next etc the picon does not show!? I'm not sure if it did yesterday when I set it up. I'm nearly sure it did. Does anybody know why?

I've also not got channel 4 etc but I know I read about it in the 84 pages here so I'll find it again before I ask it again.

Delighted I found this thread and box. It's a fantastic box and flashed image.

I restored to original image and it's working again.!? Took the advice of pressing blue and backing up.
I've yet to run the second satellite cable but will soon so not getting to play with recordings yet.

One thing I am struggling on is getting the remote to control the tv. I've LG. Simple link on. Power on. The remote turns both on but not both off.

Should the box be left in deep stand by or asleep. Difference in practicality?

  • Registered Users Posts: 178 ✭✭Milsey

One last one for the moment. Thanks in advance.
What's a good iptv plugin or extension. Can I get an iptv that epg menu etc looks like the image as it is now.
Is there any reason to update to 6.2?
    Thanks again

All my boxes are just switched off by remote which allows epg and abm to update early in the mornings.
If box is working great no need to update it,but if my box has issues i will reflash with latest image.

Yes but there are two states you can switch the box of by remote. Deep sleep and sleep (I think it's called) I'm wondering which to leave it in?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,561 ✭✭✭Gerry Wicklow

Deep sleep takes longer to reboot. In practical terms there is little or no advantage in using deep sleep. Power consumption is minimal either way.

Anyone here using dreamplex on the box.
I installed the plug-in (version 0.1) from plugin option on box and set up connection to my server.

Got an error "list index out of range" when trying to sync with my library on server.

Then I downloaded latest version of the app 2.1.3 in ipk form and installed this version of app .
    Same error though persists.
I know it's connecting to server as I can see it in my Plex server getting hit.

Tried both myplex and direct ip now in dreamplex.

213 sounds like an old cccam, for finding other network devices i use samba on all devices and mount them as that should allow to go straight in.

Ya I don't think it's a network issue as such.
2.1.3 is the latest version of that app to access Plex Server . I have Plex clients running on other devices in house and all work fine. They access my Ubuntu server no problem.
I've added a whitelist in Plex server now also for the tiviar IP but same issue.
Maybe its just a bug in the dreamplex app.

Oh wait it's syncing now , went direct IP and whitelist the IP. Woo hoo , been annoying me last few hours.

I struggled with using HDMI CEC to control the TV. I ended up pairing the remote to the Tv. Further information in this post. (The Tiviar Alphaplus Manual, with the remote codes, is online here.

If you were to put say 3 of them in to a house running off the same internet connection would there be a conflict or would you rename them?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 643 ✭✭✭john_doe.

Is there a way to sort recordings into folders for individual TV shows and seasons ?

Thought I saw mention of plugin that done this , but there were some stability issues.

    Something like below :

    Trust
    -- Season 1
    ---- Episode 1

Lost count how many boxes in use and all have their own ip address with added multi switches for more lan ports+ laptops and desktop and android and other things forgotten. They set their own ip.

If you want. Your router communicates with them by Mac address anyway

The Movie Organisor plugin, included in my image, sorts programs into folders, but not individual series folders. However, the Movie Browser plugin, also included has a series view that shows Series Season / Episode numbers. It can only do this if the numbers of the season are present in the filename of the series in the format "S01E01" or "s01e01" or "S1E1" . Most us shows include this information, once the CrossEPG plugin is used. In theory this should work “out-of-the-box”, with my image. (I have not tried this, as it is the first time it came up. I’ll give it a go.)

Wonder if anyone could help me with a problem I'm having with my channel bouquet? Firstly would like to thank THHB for his image and everyone's help in this thread.
The problem I'm having is I created one bouquet will all the channels I want using dreambox editor. Everything works fine for a day or two but for no reason when I turn on the box, my bouquet named MyFavs changes to N/A and nothing is visible.
Only thing I can think of is I had to manually scan for e4, maybe that's the culprit, or autobouquetsmaker is running somehow and killing my bouquet? I keep having to restore image to get it back to the way I'd like it, would it be easier to do a fresh image install and start again? Would I lose my recordings on HDD? All help greatly appreciated!

    Hi Folks,
probably really simple answer to this question. But really struggling to find out how to access and playback recorded shows on this device.

    Am using highhorses openatv image.

    Thanks in advance.

Curious to know is there anyway to have 2 boxes share a harddrive or map a network drive between two so if both boxes had their own hard drives they appear as one hardrive.

I have box in kitchen which is my main box
I'd like to get a second box for living room and I'd like to be able to watch recordings made in the kitchen box in the living room (a file share would take care of this)

I'd also like to be able to set recordings via the box in living room so if I set something to record in living room it would go to a shared drive.

Or if there was way to have a master box where the box in kitchen does recordings, but the box in living room allows to set up the recordings?

I have my Tiviar hard drive mapped to another Edison OS Nino box. I can watch what I record on the Tiviar. It's pretty easy. To access the drive.... Menu ->setup ->system ->network ->mounts setup ->network browser

Follow the link https://wiki.openpli.org/MountManager , It works like a charm .It works for openatv as well

Thanks , is there any way to set recordings from one box to another via the EPG.

Let's say I have my main box (box 1) hooked up with a hardrive.

I'm browsing EPG on second box (box2) and I see something I want to send to record on box 1.

I can record via phone at moment and prob through a web interface.
Interested to know if something like this was possible however.

Not that I know of. You are better to just use an app with a profile for each box.

Not used that scenario but i would imagine you need to setup your recordings to use on other box via first box.

Haven't found anything like this yet. You can use the web interface from any web browser on your network to set timers, browse EPG, stream live or recorded etc. I have 2 boxes with fixed network addresses so I have them bookmarked in my browsers.

From a thread by grog68 many thanks.

I've been asked how I've set up my two boxes too share one usb hard drive so that recordings can be viewed on either box so thought I would start a new thread.

I have 2 zgemma h2s boxes with wooshbuild 4.001 installed so my instructions are based on that but I assume other builds will be similar.

Box one is wooshbuilds standard setup with a usb hdd plugged into the back and mounted as /media/hdd, all recordings, timeshift and epg data etc is stored on the hdd. Nothing special.

Box 2 has wooshbuild 4.001 standard set up but with just a usb memory stick plugged in the back and mounted at /media/hdd and timeshift and epg data is stored on here as normal.

Now on box 1, I have turned off dhcp in network settings, Menu -> Setup -> System -> Network -> Device Setup -> Adaptor Settiings -> Use DHCP - NO, then green button to save. Exit out of the menu system and your network will restart. This gives your box 1 a permanent IP address so there is no chance of it changing if the box is rebooted.

Now on Box 2 you need to do the following:

Mount HDD thats on box 1 :

Menu -> Setup -> System -> Network -> Mounts Setup -> Mount Manager -> Network Browser, this should scan your network and you should see box1 on the list. Scroll down to box1 and click OK, select no when asked if a password is needed (even if you have password on box 1)

You should then see two items under your box1 entry, highligh HardDrive and click ok.again click no when asked if password is required. You will no see Mount Editor.

Go down each item, as you can see in the image below I have 'Mount using' set to FSTAB.

    networkdrivesettings.jpg
Scroll down and you will be asked for username and password, username is root, if you dont have a password on your box1 (default) then leave password blank, then press green button to save. Keep pressing exit until you return to tv.

Now go Menu -> Setup -> Recordings and Timeshift -> Recording Settings. With Default movie location highlighted press OK. HIghlight Parent Directory and press OK, then highlight List of Storage devices as press OK again. Now highlight your network drive HarddiskZGEMMAH2S (maybe slightly different) and press OK. Scroll down to movie and press OK once again and then press Blue button to add it as a bookmark and then green button.

Now with Default movie location highlighted use left and right arrows and select /media/net/HarddiskZGEMMAH2S/movie and press green button to save.

Now exit back to TV screen.

Still on box 2 press green button to get plugin list up, scroll down to Movie Organisor and click OK. Use arrow keys to change enabled to no and press green button.

Press 'File List' on remote of box2 and highlight .. and press OK, repeat this until you get a alist of hdd, net, autofs. Highlight net and press OK button. Scroll down to the network drive and press OK again, highlight movie and press OK once again. You should now see all of the recordings on the hdd connected to box 1. Press exit until you get back to TV screen

I personally restart box 2 just to make sure all network settings are set, but I dont know if this is needed.

You should now be watch recordings on either box, as well as recordings made on either box will be stored in the same place.

    Hope this help

Scroll down to the network drive and press OK again, highlight movie and press OK once again. You should now see all of the recordings on the hdd connected to box 1. Press exit until you get back to TV screen

I personally restart box 2 just to make sure all network settings are set, but I dont know if this is needed.

You should now be watch recordings on either box, as well as recordings made on either box will be stored in the same place.

    Hope this help

Thanks , I found the same post last night when I went looking :-)

Most of us got the box from World of Satellite.

In terms of image, it really depends on what you want to do. If you want a receiver that you can heavily customize, and are willing to put in the work/learning to do this, then the standard image from WoS will be fine. I used OpenATV, but others use OpenVix.

If you’re main interest is a box that you can plug in and use, with as little effort as possible, there is an image made by THHB, that you can flash, the link is given at the start of this thread.

If you want a box for family use, that is as simple as possible to use, you might consider the image I made. There is a lot of information on what it offers, on this thread.

    Hi all

Been reading this thread with interest. I am planning to get FTA to replace my cancelled virgin media subscription at my new build. I was initially thinking of the Ariva 153 but it appears the Tiviar maybe a better bet in terms of functionality. Just wondering if anyone here can clarify a few queries i have if i were to choose the Tiviar:

I currently do not have a satellite dish therefore i would need to get an installer in - i got a quote of him for a standard no frills combo box + the satellite install but i want the option to be able to record so he suggested i get whatever box i want myself and he can just charge me for the satellite installation cost. From reading the thread it would appear that i would need to flash the Tiviar using HTTB's image prior to the satellite install so that the installer can just plug and play when the satellite install is complete to ensure that there is signal going into the box?

Reading the flash guide it appears that i should be able to do it without even plugging it to the tv, i.e. just powering up the box and following the prompts from the display in front of the receiver will suffice?

Also the troubleshooting section of the flash guide it mentions that "if the receiver bypasses the flash and boots into an existing image".....just in case this happens to me, how do i tell if the receive boots into an existing image? does this mean i need to plug the box to the tv to be able to look out for this?

Sorry for the noob question, this is all very new to me so any help appreciated. Thanks in advance.

If anyone wants this receiver, €135 with 8gig USB stick. I am in Drogheda and work in D15 so can meet there as well.

    Bought from WoS.

I think you are refering to the IPTV player.
Since openATV 6.2 you can add it under PLUGINS> DOWNLOAD PLUGIN (green button) > EXTENSIONS> E2IPLAYER. Keep hitting OK as requested during the install.
