Hey all, I'm looking to get a pc for gaming mainly but also be using it for rendering and video editing. Not sure whether to build it now or if its best to wait.
Want to get the best performance possible for the budget, don't really want to settle on something lower than what I could get.

1. What is your budget? €1200-1600

2. What will be the main purpose of the computer? [Gaming/Video editing] Games played will be Pubg, Dota 2, CSGO and pretty much any new game that comes out, i'd like to play on the highest settings possible

3. Do you need a copy of Windows? [No]

4. Can you use any parts from an old computer? [No]

5. Do you need a monitor? [No]

6. Do you need any of these peripherals? [No]

7. Are you willing to try overclocking? [Yes]

8. How can you pay? [Paypal/Debit card]

9. When are you purchasing? [Within the next 2 weeks, unless it's better to wait]

Probably best to go for a Ryzen build seeing as you want to do some work on it aswell as gaming. The AMD processors are getting a price reduction soon so you could wait for that to happen. Wouldn't be too long of a wait i'd imagine.

I was initially looking at running something like a 980 ti or a 1070, with a 7700k cpu

Is a Ryzen still a better choice over that and would I still go for one of the gpu's I mentioned?

7770K is going to take a big chunk of your budget along with a suitable mobo.

i5-8600K + Z370 is a better bet now than the 7700K really. Assuming you're gaming at 1080p, a GTX1070Ti or GTX1080 will last years at ultra.

Quick go here, admittedly I just picked the first motherboard on the list though there are a bunch within about £30. I know the H100 has a good reputation as a cooler, but again maybe others could suggest if there is anything better (went for the £100 range as anything that is will likely be around there too). Obviously the case can be changed to whatever the OP may prefer. The GPU can be moved up to a 1080 for about £70 more.

You could crossfire 2 r9 290x's and you can buy them for around 160 euros each on ebay and it would outperform the 1070

That is a pretty terrible suggestion. You won't get them for €160 on Ebay, would need a heavy PSU, would have to deal with tons of heat and crossfire is pretty poor in most games.

Factually wrong.

At 1080p, a single GTX 1070 will outperform CF 290X by 11%

Not to mention the amount of headaches you would get from issues, bugs, and poor scaling in lots of games.

I may be wrong about the suggestion but they can definitely be bought for around 160-180 each in an ebay auction
