under 34k.. fair price, might be some haggle room there too. And only 16K km.

Ahem... closer to 18k kms. That reading was taken when I presented it for trade in valuation last October. Still low though, thanks to Covid.

The car still has that new car smell. No smoking, no animals, two or four legged. :D The back seats have been unused. It's been rapid charged six times. The battery has been well looked after.

Bit like ours! although we are on about 25k.. will have it a year soon.

Think we've DC charged 3 times, and one of them was to see how it worked.

Finally got my new replacement car today! :D

Has anyone tried to install the new software updates themselves? I saw a post on the UK Kia eNiro forums with some details on how to do this. I just wanted to confirm it worked for Irish Niro drivers before attempting it.

I would have assumed as my new replacement car is a 211, it would have come with latest software!

    Details....

    Kia e-Niro Maps/Software Update Procedure
Any updates are done at your own risk, do not attempt this unless you are competent with computers

    For MY20 (4) and MY21 (3 and 4+) Kia e-Niro cars only
    1. Create a folder on your computer on a drive with at least 60Gb of spare space called Kia Updates, then create a new subfolder called ‘Widescreen’.
    2. Go to https://drive.google.com/file/d/1J0iobcLbU6RhLc2lQUJBvvZtnPv2xNyq/view, then hit the ‘Download Files’ button.
Elect to save the download into the folder you created called ‘Widescreen’.
    3. You will now have a file called Gen5-STD5W-2020-WIDE.zip which you will need to unzip into a new folder (call it ‘USB Drive’). You will require unzipping software such as PeaZip, WinRAR, 7-zip or you can use the unzipping software that came with your Operating System’.
    4. The folder should contain 3 files and a folder called ‘HU’ which contains a number of sub-folders with files in the .tar and .gz. tar formats. It will look like:
The total file size of all the files in this folder is 23.6 Gb.
    5. Finally, on a freshly formated (FAT32 with 32Kb clusters) USB memory stick, copy the files from the ‘USB Drive’ folder to the root of the USB memory stick.
    6. Turn the car on and place the USB memory stick into the central USB port in your car, navigate to the System Info, and then press the ‘Upgrade’ buttton. You will see a screen with three options - choose ‘General Update’ (some models will display 2 options in which case choose ‘Clean Update’ or ‘General’. There are two parts of the update, the first part of the update takes approx 45 mins. The car should return to the update screen and you then need to press the ‘Update’ button a second time to do the seconf part of the update process. The second part should take around 15 mins.
    7. After updating you will have a new ‘Profile’ screen with User 1, Guest etc set as default names - you can change these names via the Settings > Profile to your name (delete say ‘User 1’ and type in ‘Joseph Bloggs’ for example).
You will also have to relink your UVO app with the car - don’t forget you will have to add your mobile phone number (which has to be in the international format eg for the UK it would be +44 7890123456 i.e. the initial ‘0’ has to be replaced by ‘+44’

    Warning:
Some people prefer the 3 column layout of the nav screen in the original navigation unit. Updating will only allow you to use
a 2 column split screen (2/3rds and 1/3rd). If you upgrade you will no longer be able to revert back to the old format. However,
you will not be able to upgrade you mapping software and you will not be able to get software/firmware updates.
You will also have to change the units from Km back to Miles (Settings > Navigation > Display > Information > Distance
Unit). By setting up a Profile in your name, you will also have to change your UVO settings - don’t forget the telephone you
registered with is in the format +441234567890 and not 01234567890.

You'll lose the tripple segment home screen and the colour changes to a purple hue.

Certainly won't fit in with my teal coloured interior, so it's not for me

And I hate purple as well!

Are there any updates to the maps?

Maps update is included in it.

I'll grab a few photos this evening. Or tomorrow,
Android auto is still not full screen.

    Has driver profiles now,

Has a purple/blue fade in the icons

My e-Niro just had its 1st service at 13700kms - instead of 15000 kms (couldn't estimate the mileage any better at the time of booking).
They did nothing as far as I'm aware. (no battery health check, no software update, no rotating tyres, nothing ppl usually mention on FB groups). (150 EUR - but very happy to keep the green colors)

My question is: Is it normal that the next service is due at 28000kms?
That's only 14300kms away and I was hoping they'd add exactly 15k kms to it - and I was also hoping they'd add 15000kms to 150000kms. So next service should be due at 28700kms earliest in my view, but preferably at 30k kms. I won't be able to accurately judge my future mileage at next booking either, e.g. I'll most likely end up bringing it early.. again..

The guidance usually has wording like "15k km's or once per year whichever is sooner. "

As long as you are not taking the piss you'll be fine to let it go to 30k km.

Although 15k km does seem rather low for an EV. VW have unlimited mileage and every 2 years on their new EV's! Check your service book in case your dealer is pulling a fast one.

I don't think I ever have brought a car into service until I had done over the amount... I think mine was around 20k. Best bit, sticker on the window is different than the book, so im going to go on the higher one.

This is true, but it didn't stop my car being delivered with a "next service due at 15,000km" sticker on the windscreen... now in the bin. :D

What's the official Kia service schedule ? is this a sticker on the windscreen ?

My 2015 Leaf service schedule was every year or 30,000 Kms something like that but barlow Nissan stuck a "next service due in 15,000 Kms" sticker on the windscreen, I pulled them over it but they gave me some BS excuse.

An EV doesn't get a service it gets an inspection and maybe the cabin filter changed, tyres rotated, wipers checked and windscreen washer fluid topped up.

Usually the only real service due is brake fluid and this is usually every 2 years. But in order to avoid warranty issues check with the manual.

45,000 Kms for coolant change, seriously ?

I've my first one year old check next week. 7500km. €199. Stealers wouldn't budge on the price.

7500 Kms in a year ? lol  more like 35,000 for me. :D

Seems like a lot of money for a 1 year inspection.

I'd be checking the manual to see what service intervals are recommended by Kia.

Pretty similar to ice... nothing like in a Leaf or a Beemer, Mad_Lad

    That's almost 3c/km .
Getting on for 3 times the actual energy cost to propel it!

Our Ioniq covered close to 50k km in just over a year, at a cost of well under 1c/km. These 15k "service" costs for EVs are just pure profiteering at €200 .

Lads can anyone post pictures of the manual for the service schedule ?

Servicing an EV every 15,000 Kms is a complete rip off.

Can't People do their own "service" without effecting the warranty ? the only thing of importance is brake fluid every 2 years and coolant and I can't believe coolant has to be changed at 45,000 kms ?

The i3 Rex only needs a service every 2 years regardless of Kms and that has an ICE......

    .

I doubt if mine will be at 2000 for it's first service in July(!) I've been WFH for a year now.

So from the above pic the only thing needing doing is coolant every 36 months or 60k Kms, this actually seems ridiculous that the coolant needs changing so frequently, what is the cost ?

Only other essential thing is brake fluid. I don't see that in the pic above but it would be pretty normal every 2 years.

That would mean I'd have to pay for "service" + coolant change every 2 years, that is a joke.

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,136 ✭✭✭championc

I believe the coolant is a very special non-conductive liquid and it's damn expensive

Have we not been through this before? It's water and glycol... well that's what the local Kia Master Tech told me they use to replace it.

That servive schedule posted by @johnC above is a bit of a joke. Its just jobs for the boys.

Fair enough the coolant and brake fluid changes but the "inspection services" every 15k km's is just a shakedown.

If other EV manufacturers can have an unlimitied mileage, 2yr service interval there is no reason why Kia cant do it too. In fact Im surprised they dont since the Korean's were the ones up to now sticking it to the Germans with their long 7 year warranty... they are protecting their dealer network I suppose and generating work for them.

I could be wrong but I think for those inspections you would be within your rights to get those items done by other suitably qualified/certified garages and Kia would still have to stand over their warranty as long as you have proof that the inspections were done. The items listed are not EV specific so not specialist to Kia dealers.... brakes, cabin filter, coolant etc are all run of the mill items in every car.

    Rip Off Stealers!
For literally having your car sitting in their yard for an hour...
